I have to ask: is it that our corners are just that much better than other teams or is it because they are just coached that much better than other teams? I have a sneaking suspicion that we don't have to have the greatest athletes around to have great secondary play. Bo basically said in an interview that they recruit based somewhat on a size and speed mold. Then, they determine the best place for them which can range from linebacker to safety to corner.

Lil fun fact for ya...all of our safetys and DB's that currently start were all rated 3 stars out of 5 by Rivals.com...go check it out if ya want. COACHING BABY! COACHING!

that is incredible and really good news. because nu will never be able to raid texas, florida, or california. we have to coach up who we can get and find those under-rated players.

What's funny is that on TV, the announcers will rarely if ever mention things like this, but when a bally-hooed recruit makes a big play, they like to prattle on and on about Johnny Bigbritches and his five stars.

We had a walk-on play several minutes in the thick of the game Saturday and, to my knowledge, the announcers barely mentioned his name.

Prince Amukamura was a steal being the Arizona player of the year. Much like another AZ POY named Mike Brown.

True Arizona is the football hotbed as some other states it is quickly rising.

I noticed that in Bo's first class that he stockpiled a ton of athletes that were about 6'0" 200 lbs that could run. His plan is coming to fruition, get a bunch of athletic versatile players with good football IQ and coach them up. Reminds me of Nebraska's recruiting change in the early 90s.

Which walk-on was this!? Just curious! We have some unbelievable defensive coaches here at NEB. People don't realize that many high-ranked teams right now, have 4 to 5 star players all over their team. We are lucky if we get one or two. Eh...goes to show ya that from 3 to 5 stars, it doesn't absolutely determine how a player will perform in college ball...Are 3 star guys are arguably the best secondary in the country.

I bet his strategy consists of finding players with these physical attributes and in this order from highest to lowest importance:

-speed

-agility

-statistics

-size

-Hypothetically speaking....but eh...he obviously uses some sort of criteria when hunting for diamonds....

Walk on Junior Defensive End Kevin Thomsen. Kid started out playing fullback for 2 years, then moved to linebacker. Now he's a DE and played his first snaps in the Missouri game.. AND sacked Gabbert for a 7 yard loss in the middle of the 3rd quarter. (right before the intentional grounding play)
