Nate Swift

Most of the stuff on this board is doom and gloom, not that I necessarily disagree with some of the stuff being said, but I'd like to take a break from all that for a moment.

The man deserves is own thread!

He's caught a lot of grief from some of us on this board (including myself) about how he's not the "big play" type of receiver/punt returner.

Well, he certainly looked like a game breaker last night and I think he deserves credit for making a couple of big plays when we needed them (the punt return and the long reception on our last TD drive).

The punt return could've been something that we'll probably never see him come close to doing ever again, but still...

The dude is a gamer... and Ganz needs to try and get him the ball more, IMO.

Great job, Swift!

Oh hell yeah dawg!

:cheers

Swift's return brought back life & hope to the team. It was awesome. He's been consistently tough & dependable for four years.

I may have to bring out my Swift sig from last year...

Nate Swift=Homeboy.

I never understood why so many posters would knock this kid. All he has done is played his a$$ off since he came here. When he broke out his first year as a nobody we were calling his praises. His arrival game vs ISU @ home is still one of my favorites. We celebrate his catches vs Oklahoma, Auburn, Texas, and so forth. Then all he becomes is a second hand "possession" receiver that would be replaced when Clownahan recruited talented receivers after a couple of drop passes in the blowouts of last year. Well those "more talented" receivers that were brought in still sit it Nate's shadow riding the pine and I'll take a possession receiver that has a drop here or there over some pompous egomaniac that can't stay astray from the law. Nate has kept his nose clean, goes to class, and has never been a "cancer" to the team. Is that so much to ask out of a kid that supposedly rode Murtha's coattail to Lincoln? Boy 20 years down the road the less heralded recruit from Hutchinson Minn will be a name we all will recall.

I've had nothing, but respect for Swift ever since he came here. He is a very consistent receiver and doesn't deserve some of the crap that he gets. Great punt return Swift. :clap

Swift has been as dependable as there is. He's been making plays since he was a redshirt freshman.

Plus, he's a quality, high-character guy, too. After his career on Sundays, I hope he comes back and is associate with the program in some way.

How about this... If you ever wondered what Oz-burn might've been like during his playing days as a WR, I think Swift might be a pretty close approximation.

Swift has always been clutch. I think his name should have been Nate Clutch instead of Nate Swift. I'd really like to see Swift out there with a faster WR alongside him. Swift is a great possession guy but I don't like it when we play him and Peterson together...the speed in that duo is not going to scare teams like VA Tech and OU. Peterson is a nice possession guy too but I'd like to see Paul and/or Gilleylen as the other WR with Swift.

Kudos to Swift for battling the whole game! :horns2 :woo :horns2

Game Ball Goes To: WR Nate Swift gave a jolt of electricity to a Memorial Stadium record crowd with his 88-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. What’s impressive is that Nebraska had set up a punt block, and it looked as if Swift was going to fair catch the punt. He used a key block from Prince Amukamara. The scored pulled Nebraska within 28-23.

HE IS THE ONE WHO BROUGHT US BACK INTO THE GAME HE IS A WONDERFUL PLAYER!
Agreed. If that man functions in life like he does on the football field he will be a huge success. He has real determination, is tough, never seems to quit and plays full bore every game. Love to see it. It is a pleasure to have Nate Swift as a Husker. He is a true and proud bearer of the N on that helmet and deserves to be a crowd favorite and to be added to the pantheon of Huskers that make Husker football what it is.
