As Eric mentioned, a new banner would be great for Huskerboard. What options do we have to get this done? Do we want to go ahead and start a contest thread to let our members submit artwork? Along with that, would we decide the winner or let the members vote? What is everyone's thoughts on this? Just curious.

 
I would say another member contest would be a good idea. It's fun for them, breaks up the off-season and lets them have some ownership in the board.

 
Agreed. I particularly like the idea of a contest to create it. As for the voting/poll, we would want to retain the right to select despite the vote in case someone creates something inappropriate that a bunch of folks vote for it just for laughs.

Eric, any chance we could offer a gift certificate to HuskerNation, or perhaps a particular item, such as the "Then Osborne Said to Rozier" book? That might help spark some creativity or bring in a wider selection of submissions.

We could do what the Heisman guys did and give the winner of the "fan poll" one vote. That way we still get what we want if the members pick something we don't want.

 
Probably would be best to have it from the start. If not, some folks that might have considered it would simply pass it over and not look again. I suspect when Eric gets a minute he'll let us know if it can be offered.

Does a $50 gift certificate work?

If so ...let's start it. ALlow members to create them and vote on the winner. I would think a three week contest would work.

 
I added a notice to the Husker Football forum to draw as many eyeballs as possible. Also, I posted in the thread a few thoughts - multiple submissions are fine, but try and limit it to a reasonable number. Also, a reminder not to use copyrighted material.

 
Sounds good, can't wait to see what the members come up with. We have several talented folks on this board that have amazing skills on a computer. :thumbs

 
It seems as though submissions have not come in as fast as I thought they would. What does everyone think? Should we extend the contest? Offer more incentive? So far I still like our current banner in comparison to the member submissions. It flows nice and it also matches the Huskernation ad beneath it. Thoughts?

 
Let's extend it. This is the dead season in more ways than one. Forks are more concerened with vacations and summer activities at the moment. By the time late July rolls around, thoughts will turn to football and we'll get back some folks who take a break from regular posting. Besides, we're in no hurry.

I liked the versions by killer; get a couple more and that may also provoke some ideas in some of our members.
