okay I know Im really turning into a geek -- new laptop, monitor, PDA, voip ... when will it end!!

quick question about my flat panel for the other geeks out there who have been infected. the text on the screen looks almost blurry in some areas, and just looks more "round" than sharp - and i know it aint me peepers, cuz I just replaced my old gigantor tube-itor, and it looked much sharper. is this common with FPs? I tried adjusting the Focus, even up to 100, but it hasnt helped. :wtf did i get a bum flatter?

fyi its an Acer 17".

Do you have it on the dvi plug? Newest vid card drivers to support flat screen? The age of your vid card? Those are my only suggestions. ;) I have been using a 19 samsung for about a year now without any problems with my old 6800 gt card but I have updated to a 7800gtx card awhile back.

Make sure you are running at the native resolution of the panel. If you aren't running at the native resolution, or an integer multiple of it, the images will be distorted.

The native resolution of most 17 inchers is 1280x1024. Try that one out, if you haven't.

If that's not it, you might try smashing it with a hammer.

Awesome.

You shoulda gotten this though: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/p...s=04&l=en&s=bsd

It's only eleventy billion dollars.

In addition to the native resolution, you might also be able to enhance it a bit more if you are running Windows XP. XP has "Clear Type" technology that can help. Do this:

1. Right click on the Desktop and click Properties from the pop-up menu.

2. Click the Appearance tab at the top of the window, then click the Effects button.

3. Look for the field labeled "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen font". Check the box, and in the drop down select Clear Type.
