Notifications & Huskerboard.com emails

2 items:

1) With the board upgrade, some of our notification settings (I had to re-enable notification of reports) have once again been reset. It happened with the last minor upgrade. Double check those.

2) We have been requested by the folks at Rapidemail.net to please stop forwarding our @huskerboard.com emails to other addresses as it's causing their servers to get flagged as spam. Please check under Preferences > Mail and make sure there's nothing next to "Forward a copy to..."

The correct way, as I was advised this morning when I had to ask for my @huskerboard.com email password to be reset again, is to use POP/IMAP/SMTP to import those emails directly to another account (such as gmail).

The guide to do that is here: http://www.rapidemail.net/mail-client-setup/ (Your username will be as your login, the full email address including @huskerboard.com)

I set up mine through Gmail under Settings > Accounts & Import > Check mail from other accounts (using POP3)

Guys, it's VERY important that those of you that have your @Huskerboard.com email accounts forwarding change it so that it doesn't do that. As Alex said, the email host is insistent on this point. The ones that need to change it are:

In addition to the work-around zoogs offered, a better option (from the Host's perspective) would be to use the web interface from the desktop (rapidemail.net) and set up an additional email account on your mobile devices. As zoogs stated, you can get the settings info at http://www.rapidemail.net/mail-client-setup/. If you elect to do this, and have any problems, email me at arhuskerfan@huskerboard.com and I'll help.

If you use the option I outlined, from your desktop you just open a tab in your browser and go to the URL (again, rapidemail.net), log in, and there you go. When you are away from your desktop, just check you mobile device that now has the RapidEmail account set up.

Please take a few minutes to do this - we need to make the change as quickly as possible.

Done.

However, I tried changing my email on here to the @huskerboard account because I guess I never did at the onset. I never got a validation email though and had to reset it to my Gmail address just to regain access.

addict, do you want me to set your @Huskerboard.com account for you? I can do it without the validation email. And thanks for jumping on this.

No problem. You can add my name to the list of people who had been forwarding all this time, by the way.

And yeah, they are REALLY crazy about us using their web client. I mean, it's our choice, but the guy raves and raves about it. Shrug. Hopefully somebody does find it useful

I totally forgot about this e-mail account to be honest, can't remember my sign on dammit!

Trevor, you don't have to use the account if you don't want. We set them up for convenience. What I hated was having my "real" email address being exposed. There are nuts out there (and I know you are more familiar with that than am I as a police officer), so I wanted to give folks the ability to use an email address that could not be tracked back to you or expose you.
If you do want to use it, you can request a password reset by sending an email to dave@virtualimpressions.com. Your email address is bigrediowan@huskerboard.com. You can log in by going to https://rapidemail.net. Your username is your email address.

Crap. I've been doing this wrong all this time, and I was away from the web all day yesterday as well.

I'll get working on this and hopefully fix it within 24 hours.

No problem, Lance. Appreciate you, and everyone (and I was one of the offenders as well
