Ohio Pete/recruiting

I've been thinking about and the short answer is I don't know.

I'd like to see an FAQ (what's a gray shirt, etc.)

The only thing I ever go to HuskerPedia/HuskerMax for is the Roster Estimates and the available slots which is pretty handy and which the pay sites to a crummy job of. (which doesn't appear to be there anymore since the recent troubles.) Of course it takes some work to keep that updated and I'd hate to just repeat what they have (had).

Ideally there would be some way to avoid a 70 page thread like we had on Owa, but I'm not sure what the best way to do that is: discussion in another thread, news updates in the official thread.

Buckeye planet does a decent job though they could be more organized:

http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/football-recruiting/

They have original articles on occasion and post summaries of Scout/Rivals articles in a standard way: Here's OSU and Nebraska recruit Kevin Williams thread:

I'd be nice not see 20 posts a day asking about the latest Rivals teaser.

Some of there rules might be worth adopting as well:

9) ABSOLUTELY NO INFO FROM SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES.

DId you post #9 because you agree with it?

Seems like anytime someone posts info from Facebook it is of limited use (or is faked) and it results in more comments about the poster than the recruit. I don't know, what does everyone else think? Not a pressing issue right now, but if we are one more guys like Owa next year, could be worthwhile.

I think one post pinned in the recruiting forum and our members policing the threads and forum will help. They will let us know when there is a violation. Say something in the thread to be pinned, "members if you see someone constantly posting false rumors, etc, please report them to the moderation team ASAP." We are going to have sh#t posted in these threads sometimes - it cannot be avoided. It's when it gets out of hand like this OWA thread. Don't feel as though you have to do everything. You support the thread and forum when you have time, but don't get overwhelmed.....There are many members on the board that love to help and stop that type of activity. Have them work for you. Besides when a member spots these sh#t posts, they click "report" and it goes to all of us and anyone can help fix it. Good job Pete
