His moms side of the family live in Nebraska at the Battle Creek and Norfolk areas and his grandma is from Pierce, NE. His family also has season tickets and he has been to a lot of Husker games so he is already aware of the atmosphere and the tradition of Husker football. On a side note Giorgio's grandma's maiden name is Zimmerman
He attended the June camp where he impressed Ekeler and Ekeler told him to send him his game film and to attend the camp next summer.

Looks like a pretty solid highlight tape. I'm not sure what level of talent he is playing against, but if we can get a guy like this to walk on, that would be awesome!

Why would he walkon? He would have to be one committed guy. This is not 1975 when tuition was $17/ credit hour. If he IS that committed....welcome to the family. GBR!

Probably because he has ZERO offers. He might be a Nebraska fan beings he has family roots in Nebraska. So, if he doesn't get an offer from anyone but wants to play D1 ball, why wouldn't he look at walking on?
If you read post #2 above, he has grandparents that live in Nebraska that are season ticket holders. So he's already familiar with Nebraska football.
As for out-of-state walk-ons, we still pull them in today's high tuition climate. Granted not as many as we did during the Devaney/Osborne era, but a few here and there. We had an out-of-state walk-on graduate this year in Austin Jones (Colorado). We snagged two out-of-state walk-ons last year; Derek Slaughter (Alabama) and Murat Kuzu (Texas). We'll be getting one next year too; King Frazier (Missouri). Our most successful out-of-state walk-on of the past 20 yrs. happened to be from Indiana; 2x All-American DE Jared Tomich (95-96).

while technically true (because he paid his own way at first while he got eligible under prop 48), it's a stretch to consider tomich a walk-on. also, couple more out-state walk-ons: will richards from missouri played on special teams this season. seth jameson walked on from texas powerhouse southlake carroll. i think we're just starting to see the fruits of the re-emphasized walk-on program (the long brothers, choi, roach, etc.).

You can obviously still find good walk-ons, but I feel like they aren't like they used to be with YouTube highlight videos and recruiting services.
True on Tomich, but the point of emphasis in response to Huskerbreeze's question was that Tomich "wanted" to be a Husker bad enough that he willingly walked on for a year in order to clear Prop 48 hurdles.

To me and this isn't a slight against this kid, walk-on or walk on!
