Coach bashing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments like "Coach so and so is a joke" serves no purpose and I am putting the posters that have developed a pattern of resorting to personally attacking coaches that they are on thin ice on this bbs and if they continue they will no longer be posting here. You know who you are and I have contacted some directly by private messages.

I personally feel these do have and do play a plausible role on a board as long as they are followed by some kind of, no matter how bernard like dumb, substance on a message board.

Let me know if were thinking the same way.

I agree. Interesting move by HP. Wonder if theyre getting pressure from UNL, or just their ultra sensitive members? Thats the caveat of getting so big. People have sent me PMs in the past with a similar theme, but I always maintain that as long as it isnt libel and is supported by substance it will always have a place on this board. We're similar to a bar/restaurant in that people arent censored about the topics they can talk about, as long as they arent offensive to other patrons.

Hmmmm...my feeling, which I've repeatedly posted, is that a board without controversy or differing opinions is pretty useless.

But look at what's happening to HPH, and possibly Huskerpedia. Some people come to vent, but most want to talk football, and most want to remain somewhat upbeat. If the negative becomes too predominant, it drives off everyone else. A board has to walk that line all the time.

Having said that, I don't think this board is anywhere near that point. In fact, I'd say that lately it's been almost 50-50. We have the formerfans, Foppas, and so on weighing in - but in most cases they back up their points. Only Benard is without substance.

And, let's be honest - most of the time it isn't the negativity per se - it's the fact that it becomes personal. Since we keep such a tight leash on the members on that point, I don't see that happening to us.

Unless or until it becomes so negative that we see members leaving in droves, I think we're doing it right.

I agree with Eric and would support any opinion. But like Chad elluded too, if it comes down to libel or slander against a coach or other similar person, we can't have that IMO.
