Personal attack?

In this thread I believe there is a personal attack by bshirt if I could get everyone's opinion on this it would be much appreciated.

Gee genius, it looked to me that all those 04 - 07 teams never beat or even matched Frank/Bo's 10 - 3 season, right? And that's even with the North division totally in the toilet in that time frame.

So are you "really" that stupid as to give 08 & 09's blackshirt accomplishments to Cally/Coz? If so.....God help us.

Frank/Bo will forget more about cfb in any random five minutes than Cally/"you" will ever know.

I would agree it was a personal attack, but not terribly heinous. There's a report in the Report section about this. I PMed bshirt and asked them to discuss the situation, not attack the person.

If it happens again we'll have to adjust warning levels, but I didn't think it was worth an actual factual warning. Thoughts?

That's why I was asking, I think the board is pretty specific on these types of matters, but this one is close.

Also, just FYI for the Admin's and other mods. On the recently added topics section of the front page of the board this thread was one of the recently added topics. I don't know if a regular user would be able to see that this thread was added as a recent topic or not. I know they can't access it, but can they see we are talking about someone in specific? Is there something we can change in the options on the board to not include this part of the board to that section?

They can't see these topics. I logged out and checked. If you're not logged in with Admin/Mod powers you don't see the threads.

I'm pretty sure someone would have asked about this stuff by now if they could see these thread titles. We're not a shy bunch around here. :)

Not a personal attack as much as name calling{genius}. Still a rule violation and deserves a verbal warning IMO.
Verbal? Are you going to call him?

Seriously, though, I agree, it was definitely derogatory in nature and knapp did the right thing to PM. Maybe he just doesn't have message board etiquette yet. Lord knows it took me a while to creatively call someone a moron without being obvious about it.

I think we should just watch him and see where it goes and if it happens again, we start to bump his warning level, IMO.

One of the first posts I had on this site was calling Bernard a retard. :ahhhhhhhh He did turn out to be a retard but I was wrong in doing it and learned my lesson after a “power-tripping” John Lennon <_< told me to watch it.

What does this have to do with anything? Just warn him and maybe he will not do it again, if not he will hang himself and then the hammer can be dropped on him. :corndance

I don't think the "genius" remark is so much the problem as the "are you 'really' that stupid" comment.

Given that he's been PMed by us, I think we see how that plays out. If he responds correctly, we can let it go at that. If he argues or makes it clear that he's not going to listen or change, we bump him and then nail him on the next offense. One great thing about the board is that the members tend to police themselves very well. If this guy is going to be a problem, we'll hear about it, and the members will more likely than not try and warn him.

Also, for what it's worth, we tend to see far less of this during the off-season, and tend to let things go a bit. Beginning about a month before the season, we start getting strict again so as to "condition" everyone before the first kick-off.
