Posts calling for banning

Maybe it's just me, but this sh#t is getting old. People need to stop posting in threads and status updates because someone they disagree with hasn't been banned, and then calling out the mod team for not banning someone.

Yeah, and it's especially annoying when the call for bans keep coming even after you've explained that the douchebag being discussed is annoying, but hasn't broken the rules. Oh well.

FWIW, I don't care how many people complain about so and so not being banned. We don't want HB to evolve (devolve?) into a small close-knit group of posters who all tow the party line—whatever that may be. It's good to have dissenting opinions. (Even though they're totally wrong and oftentimes a little bit stupid when they don't completely agree with ME.)

That said, the douchebag being (mostly) discussedcm huskerreally is an annoying piece of sh#t most the time. JMHO. lol

Agreed, NUance. Do we have an official or unofficial policy on it? I know in some communities, begging (or calling out) the mods to ban someone only gets you in trouble.

Not sure. My own policy is to ignore the complainers. I might explain our position (which I did in the DBHOF thread) but then just tune them out. Eventually they'll find something else to complain about. lol

Totally agree. This is what I don't get. Apparently people just want everybody to agree about everything and only talk about positive things. Because that usually generates a lot of great discussion.

It's really old. I'm not sure what to do with it exactly. Bringing the hammer down on people venting doesn't seem like it would end well. Although it's probably fair to lock the status with a note for them to leave comments like that to the shed?

I'd recommend ignoring it. That's the point of the Woodshed - it gives people a place to b!^@h, whether it's other members or the way we handle the board, or whatever. Let them complain if they like, but whatever action we take needs to be fair and consistent. So long as we do that, it's all good.

Oh I get that in the woodshed. I should have clarified that my comments were more about threads in the football forum and status updates like what LOMS did.

Oh, gotcha. Sorry. What I'd do is ignore unless, of course, it starts to derail the thread. Then, either tell them to take it to the Woodshed or to the Board Feedback, or split out the complaints and move them to the Woodshed. But on Status - just ignore. That's so transient as to be irrelevant in many cases.

Ok, sounds good!
