Promoting Nebrasketball

So, football season's over, and it's normally the dead period for us.

However, I can't be the only exclusively-Husker-football fan who is getting caught up in all this Tim Miles enthusiasm. That guy is putting a face of smiles on this basketball program and there's more excitement for this season than I can ever remember.

I don't even know where to follow, though. And unless you frequent the Basketball forum or catch the occasional status update, the casual observer wouldn't know anything that's going on.

Is there any way we can get a jump on this, because I think the Basketball forum here has probably a lot more potential for discussion. It's just not set up to get as many eyes on. Anyone have ideas?

addenum, I was thinking of a separate category, called "What's Hot", to contain the current in-season sports. Football gets bumped from this list after the Spring Game, and doesn't come back until August. Football Recruiting stays up year-round (it's a huge strength of this board, as well). Basketball, Baseball and Volleyball are on there during their respective seasons and off otherwise.

"Sports Talk" would then consist of:

--Other Husker Sports

--Big Ten

--Other Sports

--one or more of the 4 big sports on a rotating basis, while they are not in season

Some of the sidebar real estate / announcements section also should probably be dedicated to basketball, but I haven't really thought about how. I'm just not enough of a basketball guy.

I'm also not very sure about when exactly Volleyball/Baseball/Basketball season run.

I like the idea - are you thinking of a forum/subforum or a block near the top of the page?

My first thought was to promote it via an announcement of the upcoming game, linked to the Basketball forum. However, I then started thinking of other sports as well, particularly volleyball and baseball. So I like the idea of some way to promote them all.

I was thinking to have a small number of relevant forums in their own forum category at the top, and rotate that group seasonally.

Question, is Volleyball a spring sport? I know basketball's in season for another month or so....when does baseball go til?

Sand volleyball is in the spring but the season only lasts about a week - basically over spring break.

Baseball started today and runs through May then post-season into June.

No kidding!!! What a great game to watch (bless you, BTN). Great defensive play, some clutch shooting, aggressive. And puts them back in contention for the dance.

I was wondering if there was already some feature to this effect in IP.Board. I was looking around in their forums and think there may be something similar. Possibly not included now but could be in the works? Unfortunately, you have to know the secret handshake to be able to view the topics. Anyone want to look?

Had a couple guys asking if there was a prize for my NCAA Tourney contest. Would we throw in a TShirt like the football score contests? Otherwise I could do one myself.
