Hey guys,
Well we’ve had a helluva last few days – but the good news is that our mod powerhouse keeps getting stronger.
We added hoyamann/Rob & rawhide/Rick to the mix last week – and then newearthusker/Nick yesterday – and now we have yet another gracious soul willing to lend a hand for the cause – RuffH2O/Bryan “Ruffcorn” – I kid you not, can you get a better last name for a Cornhusker fan?! The guy needs his own jersey that’s for sure.
For the new guys, here’s a complete list of the Mod squad and how they managed to persevere above all others to be fortunate enough to earn the distinction of underpaid overworked “Huskerboard mod”:
Old guys:
Eric the Red: The original OG. Eric is an old & great friend from college, and this site would be nowhere close to where it is today without him. In fact it was his “Husker QB Weekly” email b/t friends that was the genesis of huskerboard. I had a board already in operation on my original husker site, huskerbay.com, but it wasn’t doing very well, so when Eric got the weekly emails going I got a bulb over my head and decided to re-brand the board as a separate niche. The key was just getting ETRs filthy a$$ mouth toned down a few notches – if you think he’s bad now, you shoulda heard some of his vintage bile in his original HQWs – classics, but not exactly public forum material.
DaveH: Huskerboards 2nd ever Mod, and another one of the OGs. Dave volunteered early on when no one else was around, and still had a good attitude and offered to help as much as we needed him even though there was very little indication of progress. Dave has been a huge attribute to the board, and contributes in many different areas. He is clearly a very well-rounded individual and the board is fortunate to have him around.
ARHusker/Frank: Mod #3, and the 3rd amigo in the OG puzzle. Has been around for nearly 3 seasons now, and is a very essential piece to the mod braintrust. Okay, he IS our Mod braintrust – but that’s mainly b/c he’s ol… sorry Frank, I mean… old.(er). But seriously, Frank has been an extremely valuable asset to the board so far with his “godfatherly” advice (damn I just cant stop) and PRO BONO legal counsel – that’s right folks, you heard it right, FREEEEE. Now we just need to get ahold of that 24-hr hotline of his for those late night Tijuana adventures. Needless to say, this board wouldn’t be half as successful as it is now without Frank’s steady guidance & consistent support.
Slacker/Joe: Mod #4. You know him as the “other stuff” guru. Ever-reliable slacker, as much of an oxy-moron as it is, it’s the truth. And here’s something even more impressive, and a little “red” secret for you guys, but don’t tell him I told you. HE’S NOT EVEN A HUSKER FAN!! Well he probably is now, b/c who can resist after being exposed to us endearing personalities for almost a year now. But seriously, the guy is literally doing this out of the goodness of his heart – and he also thinks it will someday score him a ticket the F outta his office idiot job – but mostly b/c he’s a good kat. But definitely not a wildcat, so don’t pummel him. I met Joe down in KC through work, and he’s been a huge help on and offline with the board, as a “consultant” of sorts for my business, with many things that go unnoticed. He’s also a damn good friend & talented graphic designer, and has been very gracious in that area as well.
New guys:
Hoyamannn/Rob: Also has been around since the inception of the board. Was an original member of the HQW emails, so he is also an indirect contributor to the genesis of the board. I met Rob through Eric when going to school in Lincoln. I don’t know him very well, but from what I do know he’s a very reliable and sharp person, has been an excellent member up to this point, and is alotta fun to drink some beers with. Hell what else do you need in a mod?
Rawhide/Rick: Very interesting character needless to say. If you’ve been around the board long, or short, you probably have recognized the ‘hides sharp and unique wit. He seems to have a style all his own, and has been a solid member for over a year now. Rick is clearly a very astute person, and based on his consistently respectful and non-confrontational demeanor on the board I knew we could count on him to represent the board properly.
Newearthusker/Nick: Has also nearly been around since the beginning of the board, and I believe he was referred directly or indirectly to the board by Dave. He has been one of our best and most regular posters – and even admitted that he doesn’t have a life with his 1,000 post - so I thought what the hell I’ll throw the guy a bone. Nick clearly has a great sense of humor and has always treated the board with respect, so I knew we could rely on him to help provide a good example to other aspiring newearths.
The “newest guy” (which means we can pick on him for a while):
RuffH2O/Bryan: I know Bryan through a local gym, where he regularly walks around with “RUFF & TUFF” blocked on the back of his “Team NSanity” softball jersey with the cut-off sleeves, that he insists on wearing to the gym everyday, clean or otherwise, softball game or not. Don’t ask me why I talk to the freakshow, he’s just one of *those* guys at the gym that just wont leave you alone, talking about how much he just “maxed” out on the bench press. So I thought who better to relinquish control of the fate of our board than to a jarhead with a quick temper. He’ll fit in perfect. And he’s in the IT division at Sprint, so he’s really good at pivot tables - which he will openly admit is at the top of his resume. But seriously if I *have* to say one good thing about Bryan, I wouldn’t be able to come up with anything. Maybe we’ll figure something out along the way.
Okay, that’s the crew. You don’t have to like each other like friends, only family, and enough to drink a beer and eat some good bbq with at the inaugural Memorial Stadium Mod tailgate party, which with continued progress will be sponsored by the Huskerboard platinum card in the near future. :wasted Just so you guys know, we are currently blowing last years #'s out of the water, now averaging over 5 times the unique visits compared to this time last year, at around 1,000 visits/day and rising. Folks, we keep this steady improvement up and there will be NUMEROUS board sponsored tailgate parties in our future. And we may even find a way to get the out of towners in town. Alright, I’ll make a couple other posts in relation to the current situation we are in, and some basic expectations for the new guys in a more appropriate thread – but wanted to start with proper intros before we went any further. Feel free to add any other details about yourself, but there will be no “striking of any info from the record”, and just so you know now the trashing of my name from any of my aforementioned “friends” is pure bullsh#t, and subject to being edited-by-admin and possibly IP swept.
