QB Connor Brewer [Texas Commit]

Wow - that first play looked like a big time throw. Seems like his footwork is a little all over the place, but I don't know much about this stuff anyways.

Even though Arizona State is in Brewers backyard we were the first one to offer him a scholarship weeks before ASU decided to.

As a Sophmore in the 5A level, Brewer thru for 1900 yard with 20 TD's and 6 INT's and only rushed for 3 TD's in his first year. Pretty impressive

He said we offered when one of the coaches was down not too long ago. He was shocked by the offer and couldn't believe he got offered by a 'big time school like Nebraska'. ASU offered right after we did. He gets letters from UCLA (where both of his brothers went), Notre Dame, and USC.

He says the school that shows him the most interest is where he will end up going. He is considering coming to our camp but not sure yet.

I was impressed he throws into traffic and makes the completions. His footwork seems a little off but that is something that Watson can correct.

I would hope we stopped recruiting this guy anyway.
don't want scrub QBs like Connor ;)

Regardless of offensive style, I think a guy like him can help us, even if he does have promising throwing abilities. Florida had Tebow remember, but it didn't stop them from getting Brantley.

yup. just because we favor a stud runner at QB is no reason to pass on a stud passer, so long as he possesses some mobility (see gans, joseph; reesing, todd; etc.)

some mobility then yes...however if his 4.85 is legit then please no. See I'm just not of the same opinion. I think if we are going toward an oregon type offense you have to recruit true dual threat qb's. I'm not saying that all of them have to be 4.4 guys but I sure as hell don't want someone in the mold of Lee either. Not to say that Lee wasn't a good qb in his own rite, just not for this offense. It's not about recruiting guys that are highly ranked, it's about recruiting guys that fit your system.

Lee's a 4.6 guy. I think you do recruit guys to fit your system, but QBs are kinda particular. Any offense invariably revolves a bit around a QB's skillset anyway. But I think you will get your wish, doesn't look like we will recruit these kind of QBs in the future. It just doesn't make sense to me to shut the door on them, when there are only a certain number of good HS QBs, period. If we could land a Matt Barkley, would you turn him away for not running fast enough? Moot point possibly though.
