What the bloody hell is going on with this guy? I post that I turned off the TV and he goes insane.

He's PM'd me 8-9 times since we moved those posts to the Shed.

I have no freaking clue.

I haven't taken further action because well, it is a legitimate shed discussion they want to have, and the last thing they need is more "Mod Abuse" ammunition. As absurd as it is.

For the record though, Lance, I completely do not appreciate their desire (QMany, Minnesota -- whose issues with you have come out of nowhere!) to take out their game frustrations on you for not watching the rest of an ugly game.

I hope you've put your night to much better use than those of us stuck watching this have.

I've been having a pretty good night, actually.

After forcing Mrs. knapplc to watch two or three plays a few times to show her what I was talking about with the blocking scheme, I turned off the TV, let her go free, and posted my analysis of the O Line's problem in that infamous thread. And then I spent the rest of the night doing Moderator stuff because of those two yahoos.

I've kept up with the game via Twitter. I know Ameer scored and their Center got tossed for Unsportsmanlike penalties. I know it's in the 4th quarter but the game's pretty much out of reach the way the line is playing.

I don't know what his problem is, Minnesota was real close to getting some time off for calling me names in a PM I sent him about cooling down. Obviously they're frustrated with the game and finding a place to direct their anger which is why I posted that in the thread. I'm not putting up with the crap, simple as that..........

I'm willing to give a lot of leeway to people going after the Mods because if we suspend/ban them for it, it seems like we're being reactionary/defensive.

But if either of these two go off on any other member like this again, they're both getting the full monty.

QMany has had MULTIPLE chances. He's done on his next incident.

Completely agree with that.

It's even worse when it's just a member. We're mods - we have the tools to clean up threads and suspend members if they're losing it. Other members don't and just have to experience it.

Seems like QMany has calmed down for the past half a year or so. Do we keep the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head with two warning points? Or is it time to let one of them expire?

Granted, I am admittedly not impartial WRT QMany since he's my Internet "golf buddy."

I don't know how we've handled points before. I think we've kind of left them there just as a reference.

But I do think he'll be fine now. He and Polo got into it a lot but that's pretty much it. I really think he was kind of in the wrong place at the wrong time more than really causing the problems but that's how it goes sometimes.

Yeah, I was gonna mention the same thing for Landlord. I think he's generally a decent fellow. And one of HB's best posters, for the most part. But he too is hanging on 2 warning points.

If warning points are left there for reference, does that mean the next warning point to Q or LOMS causes the axe? Is there a policy about dropping warning points (or making them inneffective)? Is it better to NOT have a set-in-stone policy, so as to maintain flexibility? (I'm asking because I don't know--being a newbie and all.)

I think Q's and Landlord's situations are significantly different. Q has just been heated and been wrong place, wrong time in my opinion. Landlord has intentionally posted people's information on here, which you know is very bad. I would be in favor of removing the warning points on Q, but not on LoMS.

Yeah, I usually leave the points alone. But points are only cosmetic. I see it as "3 strikes can be enough" -- but really, 1 strike can be enough -- but before taking serious action on anybody, I make sure to review their history. This means looking at what they got warning points for. If it's minor, I ignore it. If there's other history not recorded there that I'm aware of (for instance, discussion here), I'll look that up, or make a post and defer to you guys' thoughts.

As far as I know, removing it won't clear the record of the warning, it'll just reset their point count. So nothing would change; you'd still have to go through and see what all the warnings were for!
