...Likely on a hefty scholarship. I know the athletic department funds itself, blah-blah.
The point is, these players are receiving FREE education, tuition, etc. And please, do not tell me that their studies are so difficult that they are taking away from football, relatively.
This is coming from a UNL alumnus, with many of our formerly-treasured players in my classes at one time or another. (started UNL in 1997, i.e. Browns, Peters')
I'm not gifted, and I never really spent more than an hour working on my homework/papers. One paper = one hour of work.
If players are going to use the excuse, "we also have to concentrate on our studies"....we better graduate a hell-of-a lot more players than we currently are. And we better be Stanford. Oh, wait.
Do you not think that 99% of the posters here (if feasible) would give their current career to be on a full-ride, athletic scholarship...playing for the University of Nebraska, if it were possible?? Isn't that why we're here and so passionate? We live vicariously through our players.
Christ, we're more motivated than our players. At least, I am.
