Rise of Big 12 decline of NU

I liked the article and while I believe it is insightful it is written to bash the Longhorns in a sense. But I just took from it the positives as I saw it.

Nebraskans hope so. Last year’s fast finish, with a lopsided victory at division champion Colorado and a comeback thrill ride over Michigan in the Alamo Bowl, gave the Huskers an 8-4 record. Now check out any Big Red fan board and read the smack. Bring on Southern California! The Huskers play on Sept. 16 in Los Angeles.
“There’s a strong feeling of optimism right now,” Osborne said. “Obviously, when there’s a coaching change there’s a period of adjustment.”

Just as there was for Nebraska in the new Big 12. The hope in Big Red country is that all adjustment periods come to an end, and the Huskers can return to business as usual.

The only thing that irks me about the Big 12 is not the academic standards but the 2 years we have off from playing our "true" rivals OU. How that happened is really a shame! Maybe we should join the Pac-10...or Big 10 hmmm

No...OU is our 'rival'.

If they ain't Sooners, than they ain't a true, false, so-so, kinda, some-years rival of any kind. They just rely on wishful thinking.

OU - rival

CU - not a rival. Not much of anything, really.

KSU-not a rival. Barely a team.

UT - Respected, but still not a rival.

oklahoma is our true rival, but the big 12 conference ruined that before the rivalry could take off again. the media and colorado have tried to make the buffs our new oklahoma. given, they are the closest thing we have to a rival in the big 12 north, but they are no oklahoma!!

Well, Romans never thought Rome would fall, but it did.

I'll wait. <_<

rome fell because rome wasn't defended.

centuries of decline, neglect and apathy did in rome.

when rome finally 'fell', hardly anyone noticed: the barbarians weren't at the gates, *they* were actually calling the shots from behind the walls.

the lesson here is that greatness isn't an accident or a given: you want it, you fight for it.

so what does that have to do with nebraska football?

... dunno... i'm just putting my liberal arts degree to work...

but look at the fighting spirit of our boys and tell me we aren't destined for greatness once more!

:wtf ......haha....GBR!!!

I just wonder if these people that see us as having a rival with Colorado talk to any Husker fans??!!! All they have to do is ask us who our rival is and we'll tell them. They have turned our hatred for sCUm into a rivalry which pisses me off!!! :steam

I get a better fight getting out of bed each and every morning to go to work than the NU/CU rivalry or KSU. No I'm not getting older just better and more experienced. I do remember TO not real happy with the formation of the SUPER Conference though.

GBR

plus 2 blue moons. :)

How the ____ did you become a Mod saying 'NU/CU' and 'rivalry' in the same sentence?!? :wtf

I hope you struggle just a tad more every morning! :smokin ;)

So what if we left the Big 12 and joined say the WAC would we be on top again? Why do we need to stay in the Big 12? We could probably get OU to play us each year in non-conf play and there ya have it free from being the only Tradition rich powerhouse in the North that gives a damn about winning every game every year

we are everyone's rival in the big 12 north.

fact is, Kansas and K-State can suck eggs all year, but if they get lucky against Nebraska, it's a *great* year for them.
