Assessing the talent: From ESPN Evaluation: Williams is an active pursuer to the football and a big-time hitter when he locates it. Lacks some ranginess but possesses a good frame for a linebacker prospect with his bulk and strong, stouter body. Great vertical attacker and we project that attribute will slide him out to the strong side backer position in college. Does not always diagnose the play correctly or quickly but once he zeros in on the ball carrier he flashes explosive closing speed and a burst to and through the ball carrier. This kid is a hitter who possesses that natural pop and spring from his hips on contact that you can't coach; he is a punishing tackler with great form and consistently knocks ball carriers backwards. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 20%. He is known to favor LSU but says we are in his final 4. Bo should just tell him the LSU defense is now over here at Nebraska! :)

One nice thing about recruiting the higher profile LBs is early playing time. Throw in there the Pelini factor and Ekeler for a position coach. We should have a good chance with this kid.

LSU leads followed by Oregon, Nebraska and Oklahoma in no particular order. Even though Nebraska is not leading, I like the company we are keeping. Points to future recruiting success once things on the field get turned around.

Oregon and Oklahoma, yikers.

Hey, Oregon may have shoes, and Oklahoma may have used car dealerships, but WE got Ekeler!

Meh. Recruiting Planet report LSU and Oregon lead. His plans for officials include those two and probably USC, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

Slightly odd since those last 3 schools do not appear to have offered him. (And I seriously doubt Ohio State will offer, but who knows.)

In a recent interview with scout.com Chris Williams has said that his top 3 schools are LSU, Oregon, and Nebraska. He hasn't visited any of the schools yet but, his favorite is still LSU and if he was to commit today it would be to them. However Williams said if he doesn't commit during the summer he will take visit official visits to all 3 schools.

Nice that we are in the hunt but I think we're probably just competing with Oregon to see who finishes second.

Thanks for the link. If he is going to be looking at the depth charts then he will notice how thin we are there. Hopefully we can get this kid up for a visit for one of our bigger games and really get his attention. I think that if LSU struggles a little this season and we improve on defense throughout the year than we will still have a legitimate shot with Chris. Does anyone know who the main recruiter is for him?
