Sponsors for tailgate?

Hey guys,

I was thinking of ways to improve our tailgates - from an entertainment & cost standpoint, b/c they can get more expensive than you first expect, and several during the season can really add up.

So with our increased traffic maybe we can start to leverage our size a bit, and find some sponsors to provide the food & drink free of charge, in exchange for some advertising at the event & on the board. I wouldnt see why some smaller local liquor store and/or grocery store wouldnt want to participate - 1 keg & 50 dogs/burgers is pretty cheap for them - and the advertising could be pretty valuable with over 1K unique visitors/day - many being locals.

So does anyone have any places in mind that you either have a connection to, or think would be a good candidate? I can get in touch with them to discuss the details.

Well, living out of state, I can't actually contribute to that. But in addition to allowing them to advertise at the tailgate, you could also promise them a link in every "Tailgate Party" thread in which they act as a sponser. That way, you don't clutter up the actual board, but at the same time they can get their name out to more than just those who attend. Just a thought...

That's a great idea.

Off the top of my head, maybe we could start with Hy-Vee or Bag n' Save for grocery stores. A smaller liquour store in Omaha would be Hootch Hutch. I know there are more but they elude me right now.

Maybe the Varsity Bar could help us out in some way, I mean they have already posted here advertising their stuff? If they don't have a website, maybe one of us could mock up a page advertising for them?

I was thinking about this over the weekend. In college I was a member of IEEE and served in our local student chapter. We were able to get local grocery stores to donate some stuff for our cookouts.

I know this isn't the same situation, but maybe with offering advertising they would be more likely? Who knows.

Cool, good ideas. Im also thinking about trying Avery Meat Market in Bellevue. My parent have given them good bizness in the past, so maybe theyd help out.

Maybe I should just throw it out to the board. Im sure SOMEONE knows someone who owns a liquor store, small restaurant etc.

Thanks for the help with this. I think this will really help get the ball rolling and is a blueprint we can follow for acquiring other sponsors in the future as well.
