I'm planning on doing this again starting January 3rd, after the bowl game. Any concerns, objections, suggestions?

Last year I made it so you couldn't be in the same position you held the year before. I think I'm going to do that again. I don't have any other tweeks in mind at this point. I'll just run it like the previous years.

If you have any ideas to make this better, let me know.

 
I can't think of any changes off the top of my head. I know everyone liked it last year, and it's great for the "after the bowls" period.

 
I think I'm going to hold off on this until Sub-Husker's Pin the Tail on the Donkey contest is wrapped up. That's just one more week.

 
I'm toying with the idea of "banning" Mods from positions. I think it's pretty obvious that as the guy running this thing I'll get a spot every year. I think people feel obligated. We could put the Mods in as some kind of support staff, like a version of the HuskerVision crew or something, something honorary like the Admin staff has.

The point of that would be twofold: 1) as stated, I think it's a fait accompli that I'll always be put in a position, as will BRI and zoogies (because we post the most amongst the Mods). 2) it puts the focus more on the members, because the whole point is to celebrate fellow members.

Good idea? Dumb idea? Leave it the way it is?

EDIT - the Mods could be referees. I could make zebra avatars pretty easily. :D

Yes, I agree. I actually disliked getting a position. The support staff idea sounds good. Or, if we want to engage the users a bit in the process, create a couple different silly positions categories for them to vote on us in. For instance, three "janitors", four "cheerleader squad" (only for the most beautiful among us. i said most, not beautiful ;) ), maybe some other things - a "hotdog vendor" (BRI obviously)? I dunno, just throwing some ideas out there.

Yeah, I completely agree here.

We could even have all mods currently voted to positions demoted or fired, if the offseason gets really dull later. I'm thinking something like in the months post spring game. Maybe the Head Coach gets into some kind of scandal, gets his fat buyout, and we have to select a new one from the other nominees ;) And for other positions, just pick the next highest vote-getter. That way we'd still get to keep our positions and avatars for a few months, and it gets changed up later.

I agree. Let's make it more about members; other than a few the majority are great with a huge diversity of ideas and background.

Love the ideas! Refs, beer vendor, hot dog slinger (BRI IS a natural for that), and so on.

Just exempt me - couldn't stand to part with my current avatar...

 
Starting Lineup voting is done, and the last positions have been filled. I have unpinned the notice from the Husker Football forum, and if someone would be so kind as to change the top headline link, that would be swell.

I was thinking of doing a Walk-On Class, with gray avatars (or maybe blue, and call it the Scout Team?) for people who were nominated at least twice but weren't elected. Anyone think this is a good idea? These were the folks who fit that description:

I suppose we could have both a Walk-On class and a Scout Team, with the walk-ons being people who were nominated three or more times, and the scout team being those nominated twice. The first four meet the 3+ times criteria, while the last dozen or so were each nominated twice.
