I think we need to keep an eye on him.

I DM'd him today because he said "butt hurt" in a post in the Deion thread. I edited it out and asked him to please not use that phrase again. I didn't give him a warning because he's got a pretty clean record.

He flew off the handle, accusing me/us of bias. Seems to think the thread is filled with hate and personal attacks and that it doesn't belong on the board. I know we've warned/moderated that thread before, so it's not a "him" thing, but he is making it all about him as if he is the only person to have ever gotten in trouble. I told him I disagreed with his assessment that the entire thread was problematic and hate-filled and encouraged him to submit reports of content he thinks violates board guidelines. Which, interestingly, I can't find many reports from that thread in recent months... so for it being allegedly so problematic, apparently it's not problematic enough to issue Reports on?

I think the 'unspoken' narrative he's trying to peddle here is that people are criticizing/bashing Deion because he's black, aka he thinks the thread is racist. I think that requires a lot of assumptions about people's intentions.

I'm posting some of his and I's exchanges in order just to illustrate that I tried multiple times to listen to and engage with his concerns and was mostly met with contradiction and insults from him.

What I said wasn't intended to be a threat, so it's pretty disappointing to see this turn into some bizarre victim complex. Your last two sentences alone suggest once again that you think you're the only person whose has ever gotten in trouble. Weird.

I disagree with your assessment that every single post in that thread or that the entire thread itself is nothing but hate. I see many posts that appear to offer germane criticism or commentary about Deion and Colorado, which is not against Board Guidelines. This message board has long lived off of threads that direct heavy criticism or even 'hate' towards different coaches, players, or programs. That's what message boards often do. Why do you have such a problem with this one - is it because you think all the criticism is racially motivated?

If something somebody posts is objectively racist or against Board Guidelines we will address it. But I'm not going to immediately assume every single person in there is being racist or has ill intentions, which it seems like that's the narrative you're peddling. There have been several posts and posters we've had to moderate in that thread before, ones we came across organically or ones that were reported. But, we're not omnipotent. For all the problems you think this thread and its posts pose, I can't find a single report from you or anyone about it recently.

So, if you do come across specific posts that you think are Board Guideline violations, we'd be happy to review them. But I think it's hyperbole to state the entire thread is a problem because that requires a lot of assumptions to be made about others' intentions.

You keep telling me I am trying to act as a 'victim' when the words I used 'butt hurt' were not even directed at anyone specific or anyone in particular.  Then you wonder why I am calling you and the poster out on it.  If were going to get ticky tack like that then seriously this likely will be a place I won't even waste my time with.  I don't want to be associated with a place that has a thread like that.  

Will be honest.  That's terrible 'moderating' and reeks of complacency with all of the anti Deion posts (this isn't Trump mind you, it's a college football coach) yet taking another complaint regarding the same exact thread and more or less giving that person a warning while ignoring the complaint made back about the entire thread as a whole and it's content.  

Meanwhile that offensive thread will keep going...

If you just want to keep saying the thread is hateful and criticize our moderating, then I think we’re done here.

My last post gave you my position on your concerns, and your most recent response didn’t reply to or really acknowledge most of it. So, if you want to continue, I suggest you re-read it and base your next reply on what I said. Otherwise it looks like you just want to argue just to argue. That or you just fundamentally disagree with my perspective. Either way, if those are the cases, not much to be gained in continuing to discuss it.

Enhance we never got started.  I received a complaint and submitted/gave you one back and that fell on deaf ears.

Your report was about the thread, correct? I responded to your report above and gave reasons as to why I disagreed with your assessment and gave context. Nothing fell on deaf ears. You just don’t like what I had to say, which is OK. We can have different opinions.

Ok we can pretend all day I guess.  That thread is pretty bad and you know it as well as I do.  Someone has even told you as much just as someone did to them re one of their posts.  But hey no one is breaking any rules so no biggie.  Offended or not.  Enhance sees nothing wrong.

Do you have some recent, specific examples of this allegedly egregious behavior that violates board guidelines, or do you just want to continue being insulting and act like you’re over it when that’s clearly not the case?

I'm over this conversation dude.  It's a dead end.  Not surprised.

Enhance you obviously have no issues with the thread which is pretty sad honestly being that you're a moderator.  You can pretend all you want and say that you've 'moderated the thread before' but that thread is not exactly positive, uplifting or now even friendly.   

It is all 'within board rules' however.  Except using the words 'butt hurt' directed at no one in particular.

Now he's giving out "lulz", "Kool-aid" and "derp" responses when people dare disagree with him.

Not sure what his deal is lately but I gave him a warning and said he could ignore things if he didn't think they were worthy of a response.

This is what I sent in the first warning:

I'm not sure what's going on lately but you seem really irritable.

The constant laughing at anyone who posts something that you disagree with, the "lulz" replies and now the "derp" are not doing anything to engage in conversation.  

You are plenty capable of making a point and agreeing or disagreeing with others without resorting to tactics like this.  You can ignore things you don't think are worthy of a response.

Even a 1 game difference can make all the difference.  Again small sample size.  It probably doesn't matter anyway who's playing back there this year.  I still don't see the harm in seeing what or how he might respond if HH or Sims are still fumbling and bumbling.

A well-earned vacation IMO.

He's been super defensive and contrarian this season, moreso than I can ever remember. I used to think quite highly of his posts. And I really don't know what is causing all the angst. The Deion stuff is where it all started to get out of control and the problems have just persisted since then.

He isn't exactly willing to talk out his issues or problems, either. When I tried with the Deion stuff, he just got defense, criticized my moderator abilities, and tried to duck out of the conversation. He's acting like a moody teenager, pent up with a ton of angst and emotions and doesn't really know how to get it all out so he's just... grumpy.
