I'll never understand why we haven't offered goolsby from Kansas legit 4 star. He has visited us a couple of times and still doesn't have an offer. He's in our backyard!!!!!!

 
Stars don't matter to the coaching staff. They recruit high character guys that fit their system. Either their is something they don't like about goolsby, or they like these other tight ends better. They have made it clear they want the best possible players at each position and are not going to offer a kid just bc they live close.

Look at who was signed last year and who has been offered this year. The TE position is being built around a blocking/hybrid mentality. TE will most likely help upfront to get push of the ball and be used to seal the edge to support the running game. Of course, there will still be some check downs or short passes, but I expect pass protection and sealing the edge for the run to be more important. If you look at the films from the recruits offered in this class, their ability to block jump out at you. Now, Goolsby is an excellent TE, but watch his films, he is a receiving TE. His skills do not fit the offensive scheme Beck seems to be developing. Nebraska is offering smart. They went down last month and evaluated Goolsby, and he will not get an offer if Nebraska does not see him fitting their scheme, even if he is just down the road.

 
A defense stretching TE that can stress out safeties is not being lost on the staff. Blocking helps a ton, but don't think for a second that beck is shying away from this type of TE

 
A defense stretching t end isn't as big a need as a hybrid block and catch guy. It killed me watching Reed block. With our offense our te needs to block first to get our run game going. Then u run the play action pass and dump it off over the LBs. We have some pretty decent wrs to stretch defenses. We need our te to be involved in run game and play action pass.
