the silver lining

outside of the indiana game we lost 5 games by a total of 29 points.

with a true freshman qb and good upcoming recruiting class with lots of top talent that want to play with raiola.

i think we win more than 6 games next year.
Hmmmm. Do you feel the same if DH leaves as OC, and Foley stays on?

The only one score game the Huskers won this season the Huskers were leading 14-0.  Huskers have to do way better in close games to get more than 6 regular season wins, which the Huskers haven't shown the ability to do in 2 years under Rhule.  One can't expect to start 5-1 each year.  The Huskers just found a way to lose to a team with 5 first downs, a 4th string QB, and a 10-0 lead in our 12th game this season.

Hope so.  But that's been the problem, hasn't it.  We're still hoping for 6 or 7 wins in a season.  Hoping.  We don't know it's going to happen.  But we hope, in the same part of our brain that we routinely hoped for another conference championship or national title way back when.  Now look what we've been hoping for over a long time now:  maybe 6 wins.

I wonder if that new Indiana guy is making enough money there.

I want to watch Indiana.  I’m curious if he can hold it together after not bringing in your James Madison team.  You can only do that once.  Something similar is going on with Drake basketball.  Drake is basically last years Northwest Missouri State D2 natty team.

I wonder if the future is stealing FCS and smaller FBS school kids and moving from high school recruiting.

Heh.  Insightful in a strange sort of way.  And like you I'm wondering about the next few Hoosier seasons.  Just jealous, I guess.  His méthode de fonctionnement in arriving at Indiana was not exactly as Rhule did coming here of course.  But I'm reacting to his game management and overall command of the game environment.  I just see a sort of flimsiness with our coach that I did not expect, and none with Indiana's.

Yeah, there is certainly a style difference.  We do have good videos though.

We still need to find some OTs in the portal.  What I've been reading, our young guys at this position are not ready yet.

It is alarming that Raiola has not been able to develop a tackle that is better than Benhart....he good to screw something up multiple plays a game at the worst time possible. Whether it is a false start or missed block. This has been going on for his entire tenure. Cannot wait until he is gone!!

Hopefully Dylan can work his magic to get a tackle or two from the portal to get here. Outside of Juergens, there is not much of a track record of OL in the NFL that came from Nebraska in recent years.

The Not So Silver Lining: we don't have a chance to retain our D-Coordinator, a defense that plays their guts out and hands the head coach a victory on a silver platter. No way, he isn't hired away in the off season, and then back to the drawing boards on our most successful and consistent phase of the team.

Hasn’t the off season narrative for like the last 5 years been hey we are close because most of our losses were by single digits.
Yes. However three big changes this year versus previous:

1. We won the game that was hyped up for months and did so in convincing fashion (Colorado).

2. We broke a losing streak with an improbably strong win against a team we've beaten once since joining the conference (Wisconsin)

3. We're going bowling and getting those extra few weeks of practice time for the younger players.

Although national perception may suggest there isn't a whole lot of difference between now and previous years, these three points above display exceptional progress that we haven't seen since Bo was here. That win over Colorado is the most important win we've had in the past ten years.
