thoughts from the cheap seats...

Haven't posted in forever... and with the highs and lows the last two years there has been a lot to ponder...

"Brand" is only relevant if the program is relevant. Ten years ago the "U" and "Big Red" meant something. Now we have "O" and "Bama". Win and "brand" matters to everyone, be average and it only matters to Alumni and super loyal fans.

Young teams/men look for leadership. If your leader is high and low, your team will be high and low.

Head Coach has had to strong a voice, and the leaders in the locker room to weak of ones.

This offense the last two years is all about under used talent. I see this team and see West Virginia from a couple years back. Weapons everywhere. The difference is WV designed the offense to get the ball out of the quarterbacks hand quickly, and most important accurately. I feel like we are trying to make the quarterback the centerpiece of the offense and wasting the talent on the edges.

For this team: accuracy... is the most undervalued aspect of quarterback play, by both the coaching staff and fans. Arm strength the most overvalued.

Martinez is what this team needed 4 years ago, a game breaker with the ball in his hands every play. Talent on the edges and backfield wasn't there.

I am still not sold the starting quarterback next year, has seen the field.

Tommy brings lateral ability this team sorely needs... not only on option/zone read plays, but in the pocket.

For success next year the quarterback of the future has to be more accurate and consistent the Martinez, and by a wide margin. Or we just wasted Quincy, Bell and Turner's careers at Nebraska.

Finally.... 6 years is more then enough time to decide if a head coach is the right fit. Regardless of record.
