tschu

Received a complaint from Bucky about a personal attack in the Ohio State vs. Northwestern thread in the B1G forum by tschu on WoodyHayes1951. He called Woody a dumbass and I think liquid courage got the better of him last night. Rergardless I increased his warning level and sent both Bucky and tschu a PM about the incident. One more warning increase and tschu is gone. He's had two other warnings on personal attacks from us and his level was never increased so I wasn't going to let this one slide.

tschu has had 4 previous warnings about personal attacks:

Are we supposed to allow this in the P&R forum??

Husker37,

There are millions upon millions of people who can't make the choice to get health insurance because they can't afford it. Do you want to continue looking out for ME. MYSELF. RIGHT NOW. Or do you want the best for your country and humanity and your future? Literally every argument you have used against Obamacare uses yourself as the sole example. Okay, so you're one of the idiots who is nearly 100% healthy and doesn't want medical coverage and blah blah blah. It's self-centered and it isn't a legitimate argument against a piece of legislation designed to improve things for the entire country.

Some people have brighter visions for the world as a whole and for the future.

Borderline. We've let stuff like this go in P&R before, because it's a forum that delves into personal beliefs more than the others, but with those previous warnings it becomes harder to overlook.

IDK, if Husker37 would have said some disparaging things about tschu, I'd feel more inclined to just let it pass. But during the last multiple posts from others; they've all kept their civility, granted junior tends to jump out from behind carl's back to say some inane passive/aggressive thing. But no one has lowered themselves to name calling. But tschu did.

Considering it is in the Politics/Religion forum should mean people use civility and proper decorum to argue their point cause that's what politicians are supposed to do; use diplomatic means to further their agendas. Same with religions. My $.02 only.

Now if everyone thinks it should be more open forum without the normal safeguards of the regular forums; so be it. I just don't want to be the one hardass when everyone else is being more lax.

Frank has mentioned something about the nature of that forum in our other discussions, which is why I hesitate. He'll have to have a say in this.

One thing is clear though - tschu has had PLENTY of chances. If this is it he brought it on himself.

hate to ban someone for such a trivial thing; it just may not be trivial to the person who was called an idiot??

I close that forum down all the time when my stress level and BS level reach a certain point. Then I come back later and try to answer things more moderately.

Unlike the stressful life of a admin:

edited for the whoops factor

Oh Frank

tschu, like many other users, has had plenty of chances -- however, he's clearly not a problem user, in my opinion, and he's a lot more mild than a lot of other guys who have been given multiple chances. He's a young guy who throws around some unfortunate language as he slams into his keyboard at 100mph to make his point (as opposed to others who deliberately go at each other). Regardless of # strikes accumulated over the years, I think he's clearly under the category of someone we may need to discipline from time to time, but ultimately one we should keep around.

It's true that some newer users wouldn't get the benefit of the doubt while accumulating strikes in a shorter period of time, but I'd say that's fair, because they've done nothing to show that they could stay and be a good, regular member who just occasionally loses their cool. Army_Allen falls in the same category as tschu, I think, just to draw an example. These aren't the guys we want to (or get anything out of) drive away.

Another good example of that is HuskerJock, who had umpteen warnings over the course of a couple/three years, but hasn't had another in forever, and has been a pretty good egg.

The caveat to this is "I've been drinking tschu." Get that guy on a bender and he's a corker.

I'm really torn on this. On the one hand, his history is such that I have no problems with a ban. On the other hand, I agree with zoogies - this is a guy that is actually a good member for the most part, but then has his "fly off the handle" moments. What about a suspension with some teeth in it? I'm thinking something like 14 to 30 days.

I think we can save that for an EZ-E type meltdown post instead of that one. It was pretty mild, and I don't think it's going to cause much reaction or escalation from a guy like 37. He probably should have just said "you're one of the people" instead of "one of the idiots" and then later said "that's a self-centered, idiotic and illegitimate argument" and been fine.
