Updated Kansas Depth Chart

Here is the depth chart for KU. One thing surprised me was that Woods is behind Laptad. I admit that I don't follow KU too closely, but I thought that jayhawk and JGS30 were touting Woods and Laptad as the DE's? Woods was supposed to be relied upon to come in and be a game changer opposite of Laptad, I guess that isn't going to happen.

I do not remember touting anything, but I do hope Woods makes the adjustment and becomes a really good player. He was a highlly rated Juco recruit and I hope to see him on the field. I know Laptad took over a starting spot and played well last year, so I expected to see him there. Max has always been unfullfilled promise, good athlete whose play never seemed to quite live up to his physical skills, and Wheeler played a good amount last year, he did ok... Guys get better, but I do think Woods may see some PT, but Juco kids can go either way and I do not remember declaring him the next Neil Smith or anything...

Maybe you are thinking of Jayhawker?
Maybe, I do remember seeing that as the prevalent hype by KU fans this past Spring though. Doesn't look like he came and grabbed anything by the horns though. That is ok, it isn't like NU fans are immune from over hyping either. However I didn't like the KU D-Line even assuming Woods might be a good complement to Laptad, and now I really don't. Good thing your secondary is going to be OK, because I don't think they will get a lot of help from the Front 7 against quality opponents. TR is going to have to put up a lot of points I think.

I think we will need to wait and see. Max is a freaksih athlete, he just was not a great football player. Maybe he got better. That and maybe Woods just needs more time, or maybe he was not worthy of his 4 stars. He would not be the first 4 star that was not, but it is a little early in my opinion....
