I put this guy on Mod Preview as a Seasonal Bitcher after maybe his first 15 posts. Since then he has not disappointed. Despite encouragement by me, he maintains a steadfastly negative demeanor. Every single post is a criticism of Pelini, the program in general, the fans, the players and anyone who supports them.

This is how he responds to my PMs telling him that he's on Mod Preview for his constant griping:

I'm here to support the Nebraska Brand, don't act like agreeing with this terrible staff is being a true fan because those that do......are tearing this program apart yet again, part two (Solich being part one, nobody including this forum cried for our last staff nor supported them, hmmmmmm) .

When the truth is brought to the forefront this forum not only censors it, it completely removes the truth and sensors reality while posts about how tough a schedule and how brilliant Pelini is remain. Don't worry though this will end soon enough and you can all decide the next talking points and let everyone know how to post. No worry, I have PMs telling me people enjoy my posts and agree 100% so those of you that are tearing this program apart are getting much smaller with your "support" of irrelevance
I told him his PMs of support don't matter much - just about everyone on this board receives similar PMs. He responds:

The difference is you support sh#t, you also blindly follow just how bad Osborne jacked up the Nebraska way he supposedly helped build. Yeah he helped alright by recruiting a bunch of criminals and then camping out down at LPS running interference. How noble, he then anoints himself as King Godsborne and all his little sheep follow as he destroys everything Devaney built so the people that PM you and enjoy the horse pucky spewed about where the program stands because of Pelini and Osborne and all this "it takes 2-3 decades to git er done" BS are a major contributor in our below average laughing stock of irrelevance, it's coming to an end, good luck contradicting all this babble your little group pumps to each other, you group is dwindling at light speed and before you know it there will be 10 of you sitting around wondering why you spent a decade and a half with your head up your asses
So now he's on about Tom Osborne. This was back in the first part of October.

I responded to this by saying we're all fans, we all have favorite games and players, and asking if he had any players he liked that he'd like to talk about, any games or plays that would make good conversation. I also asked what his issue with Osborne is, and told him that wouldn't be a very popular opinion here. He responds:

Of course I'm pissed at Osborne, i'm in total disbelief anyone that sat by and watched his shenanigans the last 15 years isn't. I get it, the whole worship thing but only if you were say........10-18 during the 94-97 run but if you were fairly mature during this time and had lived the 70-71 games at an impressionable age like I was, plus a season ticket holder for the 2 decades leading up to Osbornes glory I am in complete disbelief anyone would hold Osborne at such high standards considering how he won those championships and we all know how and why we won and became dominant which we could have done decades before but we were missing one key element and yes I respected Osborne up to that point for not going the route of the teams that were beating him. That all changed, you know it, I know it, I think you're smart enough to admit the LPD wasn't real happy with Osborne either.

While we had some honest and good people playing for the Cornhuskers we also had the Peters, Phillips, Benning, Washington, and hiding Tyrone Williams gun.......the list goes on and on I can list a dozen Miami-esc players responsible in LARGE PART for those 3 championships.

Then the Solich hire and remember Osborne was 100% responsible for Steve Pederson which I was also 100% behind but then again I was 100% behind Callahan and still am weirdly enough. Osborne and his golf tourneys and bald faced lies to the fans of Nebraska before/ during/ and after the Callahan firing are things of legend and the "fans" took this hook line and sinker Callahan suffered the same problem as Pelini, buddy hire, except Pelini does it staff wide, not one DC. I'm a true believer that if we still had Callahan and he would have kept Pelini who wouldn't be in charge of recruiting we wouldn't be so far removed from to top 15 as we are now. This was Steve Pederson and Bill Callahans biggest mistake in not keeping Pelini even though I doubt Pelini would have stayed. Pelini is fine as a DC and when he has 5* players but thats where it stops cold.

Osborne even brushed the Pelini tirade under the fence knowing full well with one more wild loss like the CCG game the fans would demand he be fired but he's so egotistical he can't admit he doesn't know squat about hiring a HC for the Cornhuskers and used his God like status amongst the color blind fan base

I saw the empty seats, people acted as if there was this huge support for Pelini but never in Memorial Stadium history has there been so much leg room before, I have hundreds of friends/family that are completely crazy for Husker football much as I have been for 5 decades and some were even worse than the sunshine pumpers you protect here and not one of them holds support anymore which completely shocks me with several of them but they see the light.

You say it's entertainment but it's so much more than that and I wont go in too deep on the effect the Cornhuskers has on the Lincoln/State economy and attitude of the people of Nebraska but living in Lincoln from early 60s until 1997 I saw the effect those 3 Sears trophies had Lincoln exploded at an unheard of rate after the 94-95 seasons and when I returned to Lincoln here and there after 97 I was completely blown away at the development of Lincoln Nebraska, Husker football wasn't 100% responsible but it was a major player for Lincoln economic success and attitude.

Favorite players, plays, coaches...etc. Understanding this, I guess I start with my best friend growing up and as young as 1st grade, Billy "Thunder" Thorntons son who was the only black kid in an Kindergarten- 3rd grade annex out on East Avon St. right on 84th when it was out in the country so guess who became entangled in the Husker web even before 2nd grade. My sister was dating Steve Damkroger at the time and the list of people houses we frequented for dinners and parties was the who's who in Husker Football all the way to the top, my other friend during these years was named Zentic East Highs football coaches son and we all played Pee Wee football together and all knew each other including the Tenopir boys. I probably talked to Tom Osborne more before the age of 10 than most have in a lifetime so his little antics hit home with me much harder than most, I idolized him as a child as we all did that ran in our group, all of us kids were at the games every Saturday 1 pm and even ran the sidelines because we were part of the family. We didn't even have tickets, we didn't need them and my wife of 30 plus year was butching Coke in Memorial at the ripe young age of 10 and wasn't allowed past the first row of seats, love at first sight LOL, in those days we WERE all one big happy family inside Memorial Stadium.

Favorite Players, obviously ex player Billy Thornton
default_wink.png
, Johnny Rodgers, Tagge, Glover, Blahak the list is too large, we annoyed these guys as kids by trying to play catch with them at practices, obviously growing older Ferrigamo, Humm, Hipp, Redwine, Damkroger
default_wink.png
everyone up to the when players were accused of rape and beating up girls but even then we all sort of remembered the Johnny the Jet gas station incident so....... Favorite plays could go on for pages but I sort of hold a place for the obvious full back traps and Sapp breathing out of an oxygen tank for obvious reasons, finally Osborne could breath easy and the entire state took a deep breath too, after 2 decades of the "choke" the veil had lifted.........so those plays will always stand out as the best of all times right up there with Rodgers punt return. Recent times, last I recall was Suh in the CCG but I had more in the Callahan era than now including the Comeback @ A&M but then again I really, really liked Zac Taylor.

When Jamrog stated the last regime scheduled for wins and there would be no more of that, and now looking at this new era and the current coaches feeling towards the fans, recruiting, game planning the whole mess, I've never felt further from the Cornhuskers I grew up with and loved as family
I responded to this with some surprise. I asked him what he was looking for in a coach or an AD because the ideal he set forth above doesn't exist, and he fires back with this:

The problem here is Osborne retired from football to go fishing and spend time with Nancy and 15 minutes later is a politician in Washington and 30 minutes later is running for governor, with out all the other shenanigans he's pulled, this alone should register with every single fan as a warning sign. Bring on the Buddy hire and translate to the "Nebraska Way" even though it's the AD's job to pick the successor.

This single act alone should register to every single fan exactly what transpired not once but twice (the Solich reunion tour starring Bo Pelini) to a once proud program. This isn't about what coach/s did what and where elsewhere, this is about what happens here. The fans are coming out of their being hypnotized by the 3 Sears trophies but it's a little too late now. The entire fall from grace of the Cornhuskers falls directly on Tom Osbornes shoulders and the fans still sit by with their heads planted firmly in un sunny places because of the triplets.......period.

Nebraska fans are worried about Illinois in year six of a 3 million dollar a year guy who hates the fans, hates the media, admitted it, had it covered up by Osborne and we all know why. Not one single member on this staff would be picked up by any legitimate FBS school anywhere and mark my words it is coming but not soon enough. Pelini knows damn well he won't be hired anywhere else because he's had his agent sniffing around for every job opening the last 3 years, unfortunately for us and him no one bit because they see his blow out losses in every single year, they see his schedule and know the 9 wins against sludge means nothing.

Who do I want as coach? Well I would like to see Nebraska return to a top 10 team or at the very least become competitive again without the obvious deer in the headlights laughably bad appearances on national TV which keeps real recruits far, far away. In th coaching turntable I only see one guy that could do this fast and give Urban a run for his money and place us straight into a yearly place in the CCG. Jim Tressel, he redeems Nebraska, himself and we let him choose in his staff his soon to be replacement. I know, I know how dare I say he has more integrity than say Osborne or even that dipsh*t Pelini but I don't see anything wrong with what Tressel did, what he did is leave a program that Urban Meyer jumped at and now owns the conference without a challenge even a light year away.

Nebraska is so far away from being a legitimate team, no coach in their right mind would come here with the mess Pelini has left including fat, flabby players that have no idea what they're doing and are winded in the first quarter of an FCS game. Theres only one coach out there right now that would come here and have us in the top 5 in 2-3 years. It's really not that tough
It hasn't gotten better. I ended by telling him to go away.

Since telling him he should go away (Monday, I think), he's stopped talking to me via PM. He's posting in the forums, though. Here are his two latest:

Those last two posts were from today.

I've tried to work with this guy. Can we just cut him loose, please?

EDIT - took out my PM replies and paraphrased because of the five quote rule. I'll post them if you want to read what I've been telling him.

Is this guy for real? This seems a lot worse than someone unhappy with the program - there seems to be something personal here. Anyway, yes, I agree - he needs to go. I'll ban the account and IP. Thanks, Lance, for trying to work with the guy.
