Points Allowed Per Game 34.3 l 18.3

Players to watch:

QB David Blough l 148-266 1,756 yards 12 TD 10 INT

RB Markell Jones l 82 carries 372 yards 2 TD

WR DeAngelo Yancey l 24 receptions 391 yards 3 TD

DE Evan Panfil l 16 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 4 sacks

Last year's trip to West Lafayette was a game that Nebraska quickly wanted to erase from their memory. The Huskers gave up 55 points as they watched QB David Blough throw all over them with 4 TD and 0 INT. Tommy seems to be banged up again this year, but will play Saturday. Last year backup QB Fyfe had 4 INT and 1 fumble which also didn't help the chances of Nebraska winning. Fast forward a year and Nebraska is 6-0 while Purdue just fired their head coach Darrell Hazzell. The Boilermakers are one of the worst teams in the nation against the rush so look for Nebraska to use a lot of different RBs and hopefully get a lot of younger players in the game. We could really benefit playing a the full game with a good lead to even get some more rest for the following Saturday's big matchup.

Areas we need to clean up:

  • Penalty yards (93rd)
  • Tackles for loss (62nd)
  • Net punting (128th)
Areas we need to keep up:

  • Scoring defense (17th)
  • Sacks allowed (5th)
  • Time of possession (13th)

Prediction: Nebraska 42 Purdue 17

No matter what you think of other parts of TA's game, the Huskers being 5th in sacks allowed is a testament to his scrambling ability.

I don't think Hazell getting canned is going to make this game any easier. Ever notice how teams will sometimes rally around an interim coach? That said, we should handle these guys. ("Should" is the operative word in that statement.

Any chance NU comes with a wildcat QB. Purdue sucks at run defense and no chance RF gets the start. I would love to see TA rest his wheels for Wisconsin.

I'm thinking they start TA, with lots of touches between Newby and Ozigbo, at least until there is a comfortable lead to send in RF.
