Just because you're not getting paid doesn't mean that you can't help with policy based on possibly sensitive information? I don't know. Just guessing.

Leaving aside the questions of security clearances, duties, etc...

Nepotism should be avoided. For what ever positions Trump needs to hire or appointment people for, I guarantee you there are at least 1,000 candidates more qualified than his kids.
