You can’t fix it....

Wherein we b!^@h about people who have exhibited exceptional amounts of stupidity.

I have this one employee who regularly begins telling me a story wherein he is looking for agreement and/or sympathy to his plight. But usually I end up siding with whoever/whatever he started complaining about because he is an idiot.

Example #1- This morning he starts complaining that his furnace quit working on Saturday. So far I’m with him cuz it was colder than hell this weekend, so yeah, that sucks.  Then he says he called the furnace repair guys, who came out to his house on the weekend, identified the problem (his igniter was bad), but this is where he began to lose me. He starts bitching about the repair service because they won’t sell him the igniter off their truck without charging him for the service call or installation. It was so unreasonable I really didn’t know where to begin. I told him I would’ve charged him for the service call and installation too so I don’t understand what all the bellyaching is about. So now I’m the a$$hole.....WTF does he expect?

Example #2, same guy. A few years back he would regularly b!^@h about how the schools were useless and of no help with his degenerate kids. He had one kid who was always cutting class and skipping school, so of course they would call in the parents for a meeting and he was absolutely beside himself that they expected him and his wife (the ‘parents’) to help remedy the situation and actually get their kid to show up and do his school work etc. I’d hear him bitching about this at break time, how the schools should be forcing his kid to show up on time and stay at the school and how useless these schools and teachers were for not doing this. I mean where in the hell do you even start with somebody that has that attitude? I’d simply tell him that I felt it was a waste of the school’s time and effort and that it was the parents job to make sure their kids actually attended school and did their work. I told him I wished they’d just forget about those kids, let them fail and spend their time on the kids who actually wanted to learn. That’s right, guess who the Ahole was again

Unfortunately this is how a lot parents are nowadays. They expect the school to raise their s#!tty children for them.

Those s#!tty kids you remember growing up with and thinking, "Man they are just never going to get it are they? They are going to be stupid with an undeserved sense of entitlement forever!"

Well you were right, and they had kids too.

I agree but it sure is scary when you actually know one of them and get a glimpse into how they view these things. I mean I could meet an alien from another galaxy and have a better chance of understanding their thought process.

Yeah like, why tf doesn't he learn to google sh!t, buy the part on Amazon, and just stab it in there himself then...

These are some interesting stories and this must be an interesting frustrating dude to deal with on a daily basis, but one thing stood out to me:
FIFY

If you don't like him, and you employ him... isn't there something you could do about that to solve this problem?  :D

Oh trust me, I’ve been tempted to “solve” this particular problem numerous times. He’s pretty good at one or two facets of what I pay him for but I’m not always sure it’s worth the things he doesn’t do well. It probably won’t surprise you to hear that he struggles with things like details and taking responsibility.

I don’t think he has a problem being able to perform this type of repair but, in this case, he didn’t know what the problem was until the tech told him and it was colder than a well diggers a$$ this weekend so he didn’t have time to F around getting the part. But that is when a reasonable person simply pays what it costs instead of going full on stupid. IDK, maybe he wasn’t that stupid because the guy ended up selling him the part off the truck and not charging him for installing it. It just seemed like a completely unreasonable thing to expect or request imo.

I would have expected to have to pay for him to just come out and take a look, not to mention for the part and the install.

WTF? The guy came to his house and troubleshot it for him - does he think that guy shouldn't get paid for his time or expertise? I feel bad for the poor repairman.

I have no idea what he was thinking. I agree with you. I assume he still had to pay for the service call  I'll try to find out. If I had been the service guy, I wouldn't have sold him the part.

Like I said...people love to have crap that they can b!^@h about.  It makes us feel better.  We all want that audience to listen to the "injustices" that happen to us.

Got another one. This one may just be me expecting better but let me know what you think.

Got invited/involved in a neighborhood progressive dinner which is to take place December 7th (1 week and a couple days after Thanksgiving) It started with 4 couples on our cul de sac. The gal who started it said she would do the main course. We volunteered for appetizers and pre drinks and the other 2 took dessert and after dinner drinks and games. My wife is doing all the texting back and forth so I tell her to find out what the meal theme or main course is so we have some idea what we should do. The gal who started it answers that she’s doing turkey for the main course. That brought a screeching halt to all the text messages. I just looked at my wife and said WTF. Who wants turkey a week after Thanksgiving?

So tell me, am I out of line thinking that is the worst possible choice given the timing of the meal? We had planned to do 2 turkeys for our Thanksgiving already, one smoked and one roasted. I think now we’re going with a ham and a smoked turkey but I still know about the last thing I’ll want is more turkey after having turkey leftovers for the whole week prior.

I’m tempted to make about 16 pounds of pork belly burnt ends for the progressive meal app. Everybody would be so stuffed on those, and they are irresistible, that nobody would be able to eat a bite of turkey
