I've sported several avatars around here and they're all of the highest taste and quality. I am a shining beacon of the right way to use this feature. You should all emulate me, but, sadly, some of you don't. Because I am perfect in this regard, I have prepared some remarks. Read them.
Here are some people who need to change their avatars. They suck and they bug me and you're a bad person. Get on it.
Anyone using a Starting Lineup avatar more than two years old. @HuskerInLostWages this isn't specifically about you but it's also not NOT about you. There's one exception and we'll get to that later.
Anyone using a Santa hat avatar after March 1th. Move on, ya lazy bums!
Anyone using the generic letter/number the board software gives you when you sign up. Show some effort, eggs!
Specific members with whose avatars I take issue:
@GSG Scott told you he doesn't like you that way. Why do you still have his picture on your wall? Take it down.
@Landlord The joke was over a long time ago. That icon isn't even relevant to the board anymore. AND you're a creative. You have zero excuse.
@Enhance It's not even a real team. And nobody gets the reference.
@B.B. Hemingway Sure, ripping on Sipple is a favorite pastime of half of Nebraska, but all day? Every day? Move on.
@lo country What is this even? No. Take it down.
@PaulCrewe YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID
@hskrfan4life Is that you? Your brother? Your boyfriend? Your dad? If none of the above... no.
@Toe Does Reddit know you've stolen their artwork? Take it down.
@funhusker What is that? Is that the Dallas Cowboys star in Husker red? If so, it's an abomination. Take it down. If not, it's a Red Russian star, and an abomination. Take it down.
@walksalone Really? You like waterboarding children? Really? No you don't.
@Undone So... you woke up one morning thinking, "I'm going to find the worst picture of one of the best Blackshirts ever, and use that as my avatar." Get a better shot of Grant or take it down.
@4skers89 Mooses (Meese?) don't smile. It's creepy. Take it down.
@swmohusker What is this, some clever reference to the run game featuring Admiral Ackbar?
@Atbone95 You can keep this avatar ONLY if Tunnel Walk of Shame puts out six new comics this season. If not, take it down.
@LumberJackSker This has a vaguely Minnesota / Wisconsin feel to me. I don't make the rules here - oh, wait, I do. Take it down. No rival references.
@JoeHuskers! This joke wasn't funny in the 1980s. Take it down.
@NebraskaHarry I like the idea, just not the execution. Also, that's a Crouch jersey, not Frost's.
@billdozer15 You've been a member here for 13 years and it's the same avatar the whole time. Move on.
@cheekygeek This will get moved to the cool section when we start winning. Until then Verduzco is Shawn Watson 2.0. Take it down.
@Jason Sitoke You change yours with decent regularity, but your current avatar is too busy. Simpler concept, cleaner image. Choose better next time.
@HUSKER 37 This is the worst Herbie of the modern era. And his hand is deformed. Inexcusable.
@obert1 My four year old niece thinks that's childish.
@Head Coach Scott Frost Eponymous - nice. Lacking in execution - not nice. Too busy. Cut out the background. GSG can get you some glamour shots of Frost if you ask nice.
And now the flip side. Some people whose avatars are really cool:
@10_point_buck I disagree with a lot of stuff you say, but the Kool-Aid man is classic. Good taste.
@MLB 51 Dick Butkus. Classic, classic avatar. One of the best in the business.
@JJ Husker I have no idea what that thing is from, but it's cool and it's instantly recognizable.
@Swiv3D Like JJ's I have no idea what this is, but it's cool.
@NUance I've never even watched Futurama and don't know that character's name, but he's cool. Classic. Again, instantly recognizable.
@The Dude Oh, I know what it is. And it's glorious. The subtlety. <chef's kiss>
@Saunders Gritty. Tough. Love it.
@Guy Chamberlin Eponymous. Classy.
@Stumpy1 Love that graphic.
@BIGREDIOWAN This is the only acceptable old Starting Lineup avatar. You've worn it so long it's your brand. You rock it, too.
@BIG ERN Script Logo for life! Solid choice.
@ZMagers22 Fighting the man on his own turf. Go get 'em brother/sister/person.
That's not everyone. Those are the ones I've seen recently on which I've had an opinion. If more of you were more creative and cool (like me), I'd have more to say.
You may submit other avatars that I haven't specifically listed here for my consideration, and I may comment on them. Or I may not.
