After watching everything transcend on Sat. night, I never did take a good look at our D packages.

What were we using mainly?

Not that it mattered much with our line penetration, but just curious what kind of standard Coz is setting for the D.

One of the things I noticed is that we blitzed very effectively. I'm not sure of the rate, how much we did, but when we did it worked. As far as coverages, I didn't really pay much attention. Raise this point again if I don't after the wAKE game. ;)

I would say that we were playing zone about 80 percent of the time, and the man the other 20. We also were using a more selective blitz package, where we never really blitzed more than 5 or 6 at the most, but the blitz came from somewhere else on every play. I saw a couple of corner/safety blitzes, and alot of OLB blitzes.

Why did they not play more zone last year <_< I wonder??

So they could make sure formerfan ask the question of why we didn't play zone.

Stop picking fights, Nameless.
Not picking a fight, simply answering his question and many other Callahan bashers questions. Why this and not that. Why now and not then. It doesn't matter if you answer the who, what, where, when, how kinda questions. NO ANSWER will ever satisfy them. Pretty pathetic in my opinion of people who keep holding on to the past and still think we are living in 1995. Some people need a dose of reality and understand that this is the Callahan era. Solich had his era and f'ed it up and has no one to blame but himself, plain and simple

When the coaches decisions make the team look bad, I think that it our right as supports of the program, to question and criticize those decisions.

Nope, pud and billy c. have cut all ties to that era, and arent we better off for it???

:sarcasm

As if 5-6 isnt reality enough

I guess that point is debatable. But when billy c. f's up this one, will you quit "swinging" from him or not???

So they took away all the Sear's trophys and all that? Huh.I would have thought that would have been in the news.

FF, your comebacks continue to be the same. The only thing you can hold on to is the same propaganda that you actually thinks matters. I could care less if we went 5-6. I could care less if we go 1-10 this year. If in the long run it means being able to actually open up the offense and not have 10 men stacking the box or no passing game, then i will be the first in line to sign up for that kinda mediocrity. I got sick of the option the moment Tom Osborne retired. No one ran it like him and no one ever will. Plain and simple. 10 years or 20 years down the line when we have a new coach, we will be saying "no one ran the West Coast offense like Callahan did". Proof is in the pudding and the option is dead. 1 measly touchdown against Northwestern is all the proof i need. The same team we pounded 66-17, Solich could only muster 1 offensive touchdown against them.

Maybe we didnt play more zone because we had two top forty defensive draft picks in the secondary and thought that we could play man on anyone... and maybe it didnt succeed because they didnt play to their potential, or maybe none of this freekin matters because it was last year! This thread is about this year, this team, and what we are doing to get better. Quit turning threads into fricken pot shots on the current staff.
