Making a post like that after the electrifying win we had tonight is actually kind of sad. (I mean it, I feel bad for you.) You're like the guy who gets a promotion, and then says "yeah, but now when something goes wrong, and it will, I'm the first they'll blame."

Took Osborne over two decades to win a NC, and he is considered one of the greatest coaches of all time. "Winning" as you put in quotations, is achieved in two ways: putting in years and years of laborious work, replete with scars that come from failure which in turn breed wisdom, or you can try and Petrino your way into it. For the latter, things always seem to have a way of happening that even out the score.

Random question for you: John Calipari or Tom Osborne? Who do you respect more?

Cornhusker-N-Texas: I misread your post to a degree. I see the point you were making, (although, I do actually stand by what I said) but my tone was improper. I missed the fact you were responding to a negative person at first, so I incorrectly applied that negativity to your post. Sorry if it seemed combative.

BUT...I do think people forget things like Tom's run of bowl futility, endless Oklahoma losses, ect. The 90's (the MID 90's, to be more accurate) were only a fraction of his entire coaching timeline. And allll those disappointing losses led up to the glory years. Just worth remembering I think. Patience is a virtue that is often rewarded.

Why are we excited? Maybe because, despite completely pooping the bed on national TV and digging a huge hole for ourselves, the entire team had the meddle to keep coming out and playing hard and proving that they aren't a bunch of scrubs. There was some slop early on, but don't pretend like they didn't completely turn it around and treated Wiscy like the scrubs they are.
