True.Well of course it isn't preferred. But when your RB gets knocked out, and your D isn't stopping them, you press to score and stay in the game.Oh, ok. I'd still prefer it if our offense wouldn't turn the ball over numerous times per game if our defense is struggling like that. It takes a team effort to get that many points hung on you. It's not all defense. The defense gave up 8+ yards per play to OSU.
Turnovers are usually the biggest factor in any football game, however. We knew going into the game Braxton would be a nightmare for our defense, not much we could expect to do about that. What we did have control over is taking care of the football, and we didn't get it done. If we did that it would have been an entirely different football game. Each turnover is a potential 14 point swing. They got 21 points on turnovers. Not only that, it takes away opportunities for our offense to put some points up. That could have been our 21 points. It kills momentum, give the other team all the momentum, hurts our time of possession, which only stresses and exhausts our defense even more.
We have a chance against Northwestern and Michigan. We know going in their QBs present mismatches for our defense. If we take care of the football on offense and maybe create a couple turnovers on defense, there's a great chance we win both games even with a struggling defense. If we continue to cough the ball up those chances diminish significantly.
