Ref's

Trust me, I'm not supporting them and I agree that the officiating was atrocious on Saturday. I was yelling at them from my couch as much as the next guy. I'm just saying that they're human and Bo's not helping himself out by cursing at them every game. I've heard that "oral fixators" is his most commonly used insult. Part of being a good coach is handling the officials, and Bo is horrible in this area. Close games are often decided by a late call and it would be beneficial for us to have the officials on our side once in a while.

Bo doesn't "curse at them every game." Don't be absurd. Bo hasn't melted down in over a year, and they more than deserved it Saturday.

Part of being a good official is ignoring the coach. Coaches yell. If you can't handle it, that's not the job for you.

Yup, especially at that level. They teach you that at the middle school level.

Couldn't agree more, it's like the producers of the game have a camera on him the entire game, and every opportunity they think he'll blow a gasket, they automatically switch to the camera hoping to see a train wreck.

The cameras show him every game yelling something to the officials. Just because it's not a Texas A&M meltdown doesn't mean he's not cursing them out. I just don't think the officials could be that horrible and there's got to be some sort of grudge against Bo involved.

I agree, but it's easier said than done. I was just told by a coworker that prior to the game the university had requested not to have the sideline ref officiate any more Nebraska games. So there was obviously something going on even before Saturday.

If Bo was the only coach yelling at officials every weekend, you'd have something. Heck if Bo was the only coach yelling at the officials in our games you'd have something. I'm not making some claim that there's a conspiracy against Bo with the officials. I'm saying the perception that Bo is somehow worse than other coaches is wrong.

You keep saying the officials are human, excusing their poor calls and reactionary flags. That makes no sense when you don't give Bo the same leeway.

1) The bad calls didn't seem slanted. The late hit on Martinez was very ticky-tacky and gave us a first down when we should have been punting. As mentioned, some Huskers got away with legitimate cheap shots.

2) Bad calls shouldn't cover up the fact that these Huskers are often undisciplined, and it's up to them to lower the number of costly penalties.

3) Good coaches argue with the refs all the time. It's how you advocate for your team and often results in the next close call going your way. Unless the refs just don't like you. That happens, too.

104 penalty yards

44 penalty yards

Michigan was holding/tackling our guys all night - they threw one flag on it. Taariq Allen's season is likely over due to a block in the back right in front of an official - no flag.

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with the notion that the calls were unbiased in this game. Was it a conscious bias? No clue, not going there. But when there's that big of a disparity...

Don't get me wrong.....I fully understand the need to be more discipline. My main point with starting this post was I felt like that sideline ref had an agenda. I know there are busted calls, it's part of the game and it happens. There was one scene, after the 45 yds of penalties where Bo and that referee were going at it. Just seemed a little odd that this ref would engage him. Like Knapplc said, coaches yell and it's the refs job to ignore it. Unless it's D'Angelo Hall (whack job).

By the way, Bo losing his cool with the referees is normal. I watched Muschamp and Saban this weekend, and they make Bo look like a saint. Muschamp implodes.

Eric Martin didnt have a jersey left. I thought holding was bad in the Big 12. Sickening part is, we FINALLY get a pass interference call on Michigan (hit on Bell in 4th near goal line) and they offset that with, noneother than, a holding call.

So if the calls were biased, and it wasn't because of Bo's attitude... then the only logical explanation is that the officials must be betting on their own games.

There are several conclusions you could come up with. I'm not going to speculate. I'm just going to let those stats, and those calls, stand for themselves. I don't care what the motivation was, or if it was pure incompetence, the fact is we got the short straw on calls all night.
