I love some tatanka myself... Couple times I've been in NYC, and the place we've gone to eat has had "Buffalo Burgers" and I like making the wait staff sh#t when I begin asking them where they got it from...

One guy actually did, funny thing is they got their meat from a ranch near White River, SD. Coincidentally, that's just north of the Rosebud Res, aka, the homeland...

As far as the meat goes, you can't beat it.

i stayed on the rosebud reservation one weekend. i remember driving and it being pretty beautiful, particularly a crow dog creek (?) or something like that. i can not quite remember the name, but the landscape has stuck with me.

 
ah, you literally meant 'south'. it is, i think we actually stayed just eight miles north of valentine, ne.
