I miss the Big XII.

Old OU farts vaguely remember Sooners/Huskers rival but year after year, fading memories and eventually disappeared completely, like 2 or 3 years in the future. Remaining OU fans under 40 years old, Nebraska was just another team, i.e. Purdue, Maryland, Utah St, etc. Trust me.

Blamed on Texass, DeLoss and puppet Beebe

The only B1G disadvantage, long trip.
That read like a haiku.

BUT ZOMG THE ROSE BOWL IS THE MOAST BEST BOWL
Just because you've never won there doesn't mean it sucks. ;)
Well, we have attended the same number of times as 3 B1G teams and did beat out one other team. Not bad for being in the the league only 2 years.

Oh, and by the way, we have 12 more appearences in the Orange Bowl than the next closest B1G team.

I do not miss it at all. The feel of the conference had a divided feel to it. The South teams did not embrace the games that were going on outside of Texas. Plus I was no longer excited to see the 6 North teams always on the schedule, with just 2 teams from the South. I wished it was more mixed up.

The only thing I care about it now is that TCU joined and that they keep hammering Texas each year. So glad the Frogs took down UT in Austin last year. Also, you would think the Big 12 has to wonder why they chose WV over Louisville for their 12th team. Or maybe they did know Louisville was better than WV in football, hoops (men and women) and baseball.

And just look at the scheduling. To welcome TCU to the conference, they sure made their point to give the Horned Frogs in consecutive weeks: @Okie State, @West Virginia, Kansas State, @Texas, Oklahoma. That kind of crap is why I am glad NU is no longer there.

This year look at a four week stretch scheduled between Texas and TCU:

Texas: OU, bye week, @TCU, Kansas

TCU: Kansas, @Oklahoma State, Texas, West Virginia

UT's schedule is more favorable. By accident? My thoughts are that the head office does not want TCU and WV to come into the conference without knowing who the big boys are (UT/OU). They will do their best to take away any hope, by making things difficult their first several years in the conference by getting beat down. That way they can take their place as the 2nd tier group.

I have lived here in Texas most of my life, so you would think someone like me would miss it. But if you put on the local news, the teams from the North were hardly mentioned. Even the scores came across as more of a footnote.

Why are you cherry picking a random 4-game stretch to try to prove favoritism?

Also, the B1G did the exact same thing with Nebraska in our first two years, making us play OSU, UM, PSU, MSU, and Wisconsin.

And also, Texas and Oklahoma will always have an easier schedule than everyone else because they don't have to play themselves. Other teams may have to play both Texas AND OU. Texas only has to play OU obviously. (Insert some joke about how Texas and Oklahoma *suck* now if you want)

The ACC took Louisville, otherwise I'm sure the Big 12 would have loved to get them.

Also, how can you say that TCU got an unfair schedule when it's round robin style play? Everyone plays everyone. The teams who are getting the unfair treatment are the ones who join the Big Ten. All 3 additions had/will have the conference's murderers row for the first two seasons.

That's how it should be. The Big Ten didn't have to take us in. They could've left us in the Big 12. Same with Rutgers and Maryland. So the new schools should have a brutal schedule to welcome us and them to the conference.

Not me. I miss the Big 8 but NEVER the Big 12. Now we have a new home and I'm quite happy here!

The politics aside, I miss the easy road trips. I miss the gameday atmospheres at K-State and at Mizzou. I miss the Thursday night games. I miss NIGHT games period. I miss our rivalries. I'm not liking the "country club" feel of the B1G.

I am not cherry picking a random 4 game stretch. The difference in scheduling speaks for itself. Texas is always competing with TCU for the best recruits in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Sorry to be a spoiler, but TCU is very capable of hanging with Texas and OU. They have played them close and beaten them both before. They have the players and coaching and a solid program.

As for the scheduling, ok yes I call it unfair, and maybe I am a bit bias so I will give you that. Plus, I wouldn't say it was as tough a stretch as the Husker's first year initiation. As crazy as it looked on paper, I was real excited about it. Thought we got through it okay.

Ok cool, thanks for the clarification on Louisville. For some reason I thought both schools (Loui/WV) were still tied to Big East when the Big 12 were scrambling for teams.

I call it unfair because I want to (lol). It is kind of brutal on paper though. But I do agree with you. Teams (including us Huskers) that join the Big Ten do recieve the murderers row welcoming treatment.

You are right. Mrandyk too. And I'm just glad we are in the Big Ten.
