Not a good sign, appears he is concussion prone. Not a good sign at all... I suppose this year, the guy who made the hit would be tossed out of the game. I wonder what the high school rules are in that regard.
He wouldn't have been tossed, it was literally the type of play that happens in almost every game where the QB scrabbles to the sideline and the defender lays a shoulder to knock him out of bounds.
Darlington made it worse by lowering his head into the defender. The defender was coming over to give him a big hit to the shoulder and Zack went at the defender trying to give him a hit.
I think the injury was caused when he wacked his head on the ground with a snap, see vid:

Thanks, I hadn't seen that video, I saw the hit live. Yes, Darlington's head does whip against the ground, but he also took a good shot by the defender, when Zack decided to put his head down and take on the contact. When I saw the hit live, I thought "why the heck did he try to lower his head/shoulder against that kid".
