It's a mild exagerration but there are many many NU fans who seem to be self entitled and have the need to be coddled byt the team and coach.

Having sold out since 1962 doesnt make a fanbase great. Supporting the team through good and bad, cheering on the players on every play, not bashing the coach at every turn does make a fanbase great. Staying at games for the entirety of 4 quarters also helps with that.

Theres something called constructive criticism, and then there is the type of stuff that has been going around on message boards and other groups that is beyond criticism. It's pure hate and completely irrational. Some "fans" can't think rationally after a loss or even after a win sometimes, and calling for the coaches head on a platter isn't going to solve any problems.

We think we can bash on the coach and the players all days long, but as soon as the coach says anything but "The fans here are awesome!" we turn into a bunch of irrational hateful a$$hole$. How about we take everything in context, and put some perspective into each comment and thought and come up with some rational thoughts for once.

I for one do not agree with some of what is going on with the program, but when i go to games I stay till the end, and if something doesnt go right, I don't go out to every social media outlet and say FIRE BO! I have my concerns, but Bo continuing as the HC is not one of them.

If we are the greatest fans in college football, then how about we grow up and act like it?

This post is a major exaggeration. Way over the top in generalizing the entire fan base on the minority lunatic fringe. I can understand the angst and I agree with it. But that doesn't mean we're irrational hateful a-holes as you put it.

Generalizing the actions and thoughts of what is probably a longshot in saying is representative of 5% of fanbase into the whole thing, is a high horse. Very high.

Listen, life is too short for you to hang around a bunch of irrational, hateful, a$$hole$. You need to find that some place where the better fans go and set up camp there.

In the age of social media where anyone has a forum simply by posting or tweeting --- well given the vast numbers of people who can and do comment... every fan base everywhere will have a massive subset of what is posted (or tweeted) that fails to meet the criteria of "constructive criticism." That is the nature of the times. If the standard for being great fans (characterizing the millions of fans for a program) is the content of the posts of a few hundred or so people --- and the expectation for the content is "constructive criticism" well then... no program has good fans.

As to the notion that posters post "pure hate and irrationality" well... that is endeavoring to ascribe a motive to a poster's content. that is something we really cannot do with accuracy. I cannot assert that when a poster is displaying strong opinions that those opinions flow from hate --- who knows. Anyway...

every program has people leaving early in blowouts and every program has fans who hound the coach --- to do so is not necessarily a sign of lack of being a fan (or irrational or hateful)... it can be a fan in protest of what they think is not good for the program they love.

NU has great fans... and as well has a subset (like other programs) of "fans" perhaps not so great.

As I stated, I was never talking about the majority of fans, as the biggest a$$hole$ are typically the loudest. That goes for anything, religion, politics, sports, etc. My point still stands that some fans are completely irrational about every little thing. As I said, you can be critical of the team and coach but there is a certain way you should go about it if you are a part of the supposedly greatest fans in college football.

trouble... that is a reasonable position to hold. that clarifies things and it is hard not to agree with what you said. You are right... there are decent ways to express concerns and not so decent. As fans, we should endeavor to express ourselves in a decent manner.

Bo's problem is that the large, loyal and perfectly reasonable core of Husker fans now have doubts about the current program. Not screaming for his head, but not cheering for the status quo either. It's a big problem and he's mostly brought it on himself.

Our problem is that if you asked the players whether they play for the fans first or for the coach, we probably won't like their answer. But it would be the same on any team.

That's why the only solution at the moment is to root for this team like you've never rooted for them before.

The chips will fall where they may, but it does nobody any good to wallow in our internet crapulance.

The weirdest thing? I'm more excited about Nebraska football this morning than I was yesterday morning.

I don't think your statement is a fair statement either!

Do you not think that the fans in Bama, Georgia, FLA, Ohio State, Mich, LSU and elsewhere would not have reactions (Pro and Con) just like this. The difference is here in Nebraska there is nothing else to focus people’s attention on. All we have is Big Red Sports and the Big Dog on the block is football.

Yes, we may have some bandwagon fans that come and go as we win or lose, but I do not think that is relegated just to Nebraska fans either. I, just like most of you been pissed after a game and showed my emotions more than I should, but I always go back to my seats in the stadium and scream and holler the next week. Not sure how this reduces the values that Nebraska fans have about fairness, morals and appreciation for what’s right. Besides that, Nebraska fans are pretty good students of the game because of the fact that we have nothing else to cheer on so we are inclined to be vested in anything that is related to the program (good or bad).

IMO, this incident and some people having their feather ruffled is not the end of the World from either the Pro or Con side. It is what it is and what comes from it will just have to be accepted as fact. I am not defending what Bo did 100% but I am also human and know that there are not many Nebraska fans that can't relate to an emotional outburst in some fashion. If you have never done that, then you are a better man than me and I congratulate you for being such. <-- Not talking directly at you "trouble" but Husker fans in general.

I was on the fence about Bo. After this came out I'm full in support of him and what he's doing here. He may have wanted out and maybe still does but we sure don't make his job easy. Im in agreeance with this. This entire thing was blown out of proporation. I can't say that I have never talked sh#t or gone off on a group of people behind closed doors before. We are all human, thats what makes some of these reactions from "fans" completely ridiculous.
