Seasonal Bitchers

There is value to varying opinions. I think you guys have done fine eliminating those with nothing but antagonistic intentions. Times like this negativity is going to be common, but many of these negative comments have valid reasoning.

There's just no way to avoid being overrun by derp in times like these. A lot of apathy from the more level headed regular HB posters. And a huge influx of derp spewing newbs.

All in all, props to the mods for maintaining some semblance of order during these trying times.

We've had a huge influx of new members, and we've post-restricted (and eventually banned) many of them. We've had tons of sockpuppet accounts crop up from our former dearly-departed banned members, and they're again banned. It's been a busy time in the Mod Lounge.

I would like some feedback, though - how does the board look to everyone since we started this campaign? Seem OK, seem overrun with derp, or somewhere in the middle?
Yes, you're doing a great job. Stop complaining or I'll report you to the Admins.

You guys are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

I have to admit, the board is considerably more bearable than I anticipated. Not sure if it's the apathy Mr. A eluded to or the mod's working overtime or a combination of the two. Whatever the reason, I fully expected the board be in full Chernobyl mode by now and it's not. Keep up the good work

Quick FYI - they've been back. Your friendly neighborhood Moderators have exerted themselves to keep the asshattery to a minimum.

Between the idiots and the spammers, I think we've kept the board pretty clean this season. But that's not just a function of the Mods being vigilant, that's also because you guys, and people who don't even frequent this thread or the Woodshed, have been using the report function. As much as zoogies, BIGREDIOWAN, myself and the Admins are around, we still don't see everything, and that's where you guys come in.

I think everyone, from the "team" to every member who's ever hit the report button, deserves a pat on the back. We're keeping this board readable together. We're gaining new members doing it. And I think we're making this place the best damned website to discuss all things Husker.

I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe that.

Im just wondering why guys who come on and b!^@h every so often get the ax, but then guys like Hunter94 and Robsker get to stay. Aren't they pretty much the same as the other seasonal bitchers? When things go well, they post minimally for that week, but its all still negative. When things go bad, they post much more during the week and its even more negative.

I can stand people like skersfan, TTTRA, The Dude, JJ, etc. because those guys actually give credit when it is deserved and criticism when it is deserved. I can respect that. But I have never seen a positive post by either of those other two posters and Ive been around for about three years. Im not mad about it or anything, Im just wondering why they don't get the ax like other seasonal bitchers get?

Imma take this to the Mod forum. It's a good point and it deserves discussion.

I suppose the quick answer is that they've been here long enough to become part of the landscape. And frankly, I pretty much ignore both of them. I don't think either has ever been in trouble (off the top of my head, could be wrong), so they wouldn't be immediately brought to mind.

The seasonal bitcher initiative was to keep those fly-by asshats in check. The live-in asshats... we've never given them much thought, I guess.

I'll get back to you on this.

Yeah, this is what I assumed. They've been around longer than I have, I think. I don't want to cause you guys more hassle then you probably already have, but thanks for taking it into consideration.

My mom's dead a-hole.
not really though.
That's always the best come back for a 'your mom' joke. Had a kid pull it on me once and I felt like sh#t till I remembered he was talking about her the day before. I've used it ever since. The faces people make are priceless when you tell them that.

A couple of weeks after my Dad died of a heart attack, the old gas station attendant where we usually got gas (small town) asked me where my "Old Man was...Did he kick over or somethin'?"

I can still see the look on the poor guy's face when I answered, "yeah"

They're asshats why, exactly? The live-ins I mean.
