Thread of Hate

So I've been quite sick with bad indigestion and other stomach/intestine problems for the last couple of months. Lost 10 pounds, and I'm a skinny dude who can't afford that type of weight loss. Symptoms make everyday life miserable. Doctor is clueless, gastroenterologist can't see me for another 2 weeks. This is not cool at all. /rant
Have they ruled out Diverticulitis?

I hate that accountability is such a rare commodity these days. I see it everyday in my classroom, especially with my younger kids (freshmen and sophomores). If they get in trouble or get yelled at, their first reaction is to 1) blame it on someone else or 2) completely shut down, play the victim card, and act like I'm the bad guy. I've got curriculum that I've got to get through, but it takes forever because half of my time is spent on disciplinary issues. Not necessarily because they simply misbehave so badly all the time, but because whenever I holler at a kid when they're not doing what they're supposed to do, they always have to try to argue with me about how it's either not their fault that they were doing whatever they were doing, or how I'm the bad guy and they're the innocent victim.

I imagine this type of thing is becoming the norm all over, but it seems extremely prevalent in the school that I teach in. The culture in this school is not conducive to developing young people into quality young adults with good values and ethics. If I didn't enjoy coaching the softball team here so much, I would probably be looking for another place to teach.

If any more experienced teachers (or any parent for that matter) have any words of wisdom to ease my mind about all of this, please feel free to respond or PM me.
You should just go into class, sit at your desk and not teach anything to that class. Just let them sit there and be bored as hell. Let them realize how important education is and beg you to go back to teaching them. Im sure it will sink in eventually.

Trust me, that won't work. 1) It seems to be every kid's dream to do absolutely nothing in class. 2) These kids wouldn't just sit there bored. If I sat at my desk and did nothing, they would try to jump around, scream, play quarters, tell dirty jokes, etc. These kids are in severe need of a wake-up call in life. Unfortunately, I don't want to piss any parents off by going too far with anything.

Call a parents meeting with everyone. Kids and parents in the same room and lay everything out on the table. You are going to need the parents help in this and if they won't help you by disciplining their own kids, they are just sh**ty parents and their kids deserve to be bums working fast food the rest of their lives.

i am no doctor, but it sounds like it might be celiac disease or crohn's disease. hope everything turns out ok. those types of symptoms are no good. keep us updated, unless you want to invoke your hippo rights.

I absolutely f'ing hate Mark May. Can't exactly put my finger on it. And Lou "slobber bucket" Holz is pushing it too. And actually used to like that guy.

i hate that nissan sentra commercial where a guy and gal are on a date. they see a sentra and the girl is mad that the guy's car is not as nice. how offensive to women. are we really to believe that a. a woman would be so shallow that a date would be over because she saw a nicer car, and b. that a woman would even be impressed by a sentra? i had a sentra, loved it. but it was no girl-catcher. also, the herby/brent voice-over is annoying.

Pretty sure she is mad because she thought he was checking out the girl driving the Sentra.

I wasn't sure this was the commercial Deed was talking about (couldn't remember the make) but yes. Guy is checking out car, girl thinks he's checking out the other girl.

this makes a lot more sense. i revoke my hate.

I hate it when your at the gym just getting your workout in and some a-hole crop dust right next to you as they go by. Then you're the only one left standing in the putrid smell when the hot chick walks through it.
