Honest Bowl preference

I can't wait till next year's new bowl lineup for the Big Ten, more variety in locations and conferences.

California: Pasadena (Rose), San Diego (Holiday), San Francisco (Kraft Fight Hunger)

Florida: Tampa (Outback), Orlando (Capital One), Jacksonville (Gator)

Texas: Ft. Worth (Armed Forces), Dallas (Heart of Dallas (duh))

New York: The Bronx (Pinstripe)

Tennessee: Nashville (Music City)

Michigan: Detroit (unnamed)

I think there's much more upside for us, in terms of both perception and confidence, by beating an SEC team. And if we don't beat them, not much changes.

If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. And you can't beat them by hoping to duck them.

Last year was a pretty important lesson. I thought Georgia would roll us the same way Wisconsin did. Instead, it was a pretty winnable game.

We have to break through at some point. Bring on the SEC in any game. That's my opinion.

 
After watching Michigan State last night, we may not be quite as far down as most of us thought. We played the Spartans tough, with a decimated team. Of course at home, but looking at both gives me a little more hope than I had.

I can make the Tempe game, and if we go there will have a huge tail gate for all on the board attending. I will not travel to Florida though. Have family in Tempe and can make it a Holiday trip.

But for Nebraska, we need to play the best team possible. Win or lose, the better the opponent, the better the recruiting will be down the road. Kids want to play the big boys. As much as I like Coach Snyder, they are really not on the level of Georgia, South Carolina or LSU.

This. Beating Texas in a Bowl game would almost make this injury plagued, forgettable season worthwhile

Nah. If that complete a$$ kicking we took from lowly Iowa, along with all the a$$-hattery and dipshitedness displayed by our Head Coach wasn't enough to wake people up around here, then a loss to Texas is probably more of an expected outcome and the Koo-aid drinking blindness should continue without a hiccup.

2. We could lay recruiting in-roads in Arizona.....lots of talent down there. We have already laid them in Florida last couple years.

3. Unless we are healthy we won't compete with UGA or USC most likely.....healthy we could.

I'd suggest that we have (and have had for years) very healthy recruiting inroads in Arizona. We maybe haven't been as successful recently as before, but it's not as if we need to build from scratch.

I'm not arguing here........it's always good to enhance those connections, but I read into your comments the idea that this would be a "new" area.

O ya, I know we have some in-roads there. But there was talks how the last couple years in Florida we put on coaching clinics for HS coaches and it really opened up some opportunities for us, something I would like to do in Arizona

I'm not sure how to tell you this, but...

-45 in turnover margin since 2007. 117th out of 120 FBS teams. Washington State is the only team worse that has been in the FBS since that time. They went 23-62 over that stretch.

So I guess we should be happy that we're getting 9-win seasons even though we're one of the worst teams at being able to hang on to the ball? Or happy that we're only losing 4 games a season as a direct result of that?

Good to see the responses.... looks as if much of HB would like the Texas match up, with an SEC opponent being the 2nd option.
