Thread of Hate

Hate all the holiday receptions and parties thrown by acquaintances who make people feel obliged to go. Hate how people at work down understand how asking for RSVPs implies an event isn't mandatory.
Luckily, my shop's office party is in the middle of the day, during business hours (which is kinda lame), but it gets me out of having to see all the big wigs. And thankfully the 5" of snow on Saturday put the kabosh on the wifely unit's x-mas party. Only thing sh**ty about that is, she'll have to wait a week to get her bonus...
Do you work nights?

For some reason I've always though you worked the late shift at a nuclear plant or something.
yea, I work nights...

I'm not sure they'd want me around nuclear materials though. I work for a company that provides traffic info to radio and tv stations in NYC and the tri state area...
That sounds pretty interesting in its own way. Like helicopters and cameras and stuff?
Yea, since I'm on the overnights it's only cameras. Only the douchenozzles during the day get choppers.

I actually like the job, if it wasn't for the shiftless asshats I work with and the lack of anything remotely resembling management...

The problem with "anything resembling management" is that at least in my limited experience, "good management" just means people who have zero qualms about completely taking advantage of and f'ing over 90% of their employees in order to pad the bottom line. So there's that.

I know management has to make sh**ty decisions. The management here will come out and make ridiculous statements, (i.e. that any incident (accident, disabled vehicle, etc) should be put in immediately without any kind of verification or not writing somebody up for not doing their job when it screws over other shifts), and then the next day refute that something to that effect was ever even said.

I don't want to be able to take advantage of management. I've told this to my failure of a boss multiple occasions, that if I'm not in a position of leadership, I demand good leadership.
