Most under appreciated Husker....?

Steve Warren. Did not get enough press for his steady performance holding up the center of the Blackshirt defensive line allowing tackles, rush ends and linebackers to get most of the glory.

I forget who he replaced, but I was very nervous about the Dline, then Warren was great.

Matt O'hanlon, after that VaTech game (which has been hashed, re-hashed, and then hashed again into an oblivion of hash, was not his fault to begin with) really had the light come on. The guy was a rocket out of that secondary. I'd take half a dozen guys who would play like that.

I was going to name him as well. Kid was a beast in the open field. I would love a team with kids as fundamentally sound as him.

I woud also add Jamal Lord to this list. IMO, had no supporting cast and played his a$$ off. No quit. Still one of my favorites.

Thank you. Another Lord fan. Same here. That poor guy caught so much grief. And his passing ability was no worse than that of Frazier, Frost and Crouch. But like you said, he had no supporting cast. I'd say he didnt have half the Oline, half the tailbacks, and for a season, even a 4th of the defenses them other 3 guys had to back them up. And yet, also like you said, he played his tail off and was often the leader of what offense we did have in that stretch.

Broke Crouch's records with much less help. Lor is one of my all time favorites.

I believe we were in a cover 2 zone. If we were in a cover 2 zone then that was O'Hanlon's job to cover deep, its not the cb's assignment to cover deep in a cover 2 zone. Now if it was cover 3 then that's a different story but it sure looked like we were in a cover 2 zone, I could be mistaken. Regardless, I don't know why you would call a cover 2 zone in that situation anyways.

I just remember quite clearly postgame interviews with players and coaches alike stating that was not Ohanlons resposibility.

Now if it was cover 3 then that's a different story but it sure looked like we were in a cover 2 zone, I could be mistaken. Yep. Plus, we don't play a true cover 2 zone (ala cover 2 like the Bucs did). The DB let Coale run right past him so he could guard an area of the field where there wasn't another player within 10 yards.

How can someone like Gomes or Haag be the most under appreciated Husker player when they are constantly talked about as being a major part of that great defense.

Someone like Lord fits the bill much better. He was constantly ridiculed by fans during his time here and he did nothing but go out and battle like a warrior. If certain fans would have just set aside their miss placed hatred, they would have realized they were watching a very good football player play for their beloved Huskers.

The treatment Lord got from some fans still is an embarrassment for Husker Nation.

Yeah. I was always a huge fan of Jammal Lord. Just imagine how differently he'd be remembered at NU if Lord had played from '92 to '95. And I wonder what people would think of Tommie if he had played the years that Jammal Lord did?

It's the flaw of judging the QB position based solely on rings. It's easy picking for people who don't know wtf.
