Athlon sports ranks the Big Ten coaches so you don't have to.

Unless Bo makes a decent showing in the CCG (preferably winning it) his detractors will want him gone, no matter where he sits on this list..
Probably. 7 years (nearly two full recruiting cycles) is a long time with no hardware given the resources available.
Devils advocate: it took Tom 9 years.
I thought that we weren't allowed to compare Bo to Tom? Or is it that we're not allowed to compare Bo to Tom if it makes Bo look bad?

Another question: Do you think Pelini has been able to lead Nebraska to #9wins every year because of Nebraska's facilities, recognition, fan base, et cetera?

Of late, it has been from his schedule and the benefit of no less than 4 automatic wins.
Tell me, who--and I'm talking top level major conference teams--do you think plays a schedule that has less than 4 automatic wins

Lots, but at some point, most pull through and win more. The others make a change. Guess which one we are.
We have won more +70% the past 6 years.

We're not, per the #9whiners.

That doesn't make sense.

A lot of what I have read in this thread has led me to ask a very serious question. Why is Urban #1? What's so great about him? What has he done that's so special? Didnt he just do at Florida what FLORIDA is supposed to do? Isnt he just doing at Ohio St what OHIO ST is supposed to do?
Follow up question: Why isn't Bo doing what NEBRASKA is supposed to do?
Who's to say he isnt? In this era of college football, how do we know this is all Nebraska is supposed to do?

And round and round we go. Wheeee this is fun.

yeah, maybe this is as good as it gets. frankly, i don't buy it. i certainly don't buy it as a fan and i don't buy it as someone who watches the games. i see a team that has the ability to win or compete, but is unprepared and undisciplined. that can change and has nothing to do with the modern era of football.

Let's be honest, though. Since 2001 we have seen football teams with all different sorts of identities and makeup. Teams that were great in certain areas and awful in others, and other teams that were vice versa. Yet despite variance in pretty much every single and document-able category or element that comprises a football team, we're still stuck in the same place.

Why?

Bad luck? Maybe. I hope so. But as time goes on you just wonder if there is something innately wrong with our school or our program, and what's really weird is that you occasionally see the same weird and inexplicable behavior in other sports as well.

first, i am always honest. second, i do not think it is bad luck. i do think the program was extremely successful for a long time and never had to deal with the adversity of finding the right coaching fit. this is new territory in that regard and a lot teams struggle through it. but, i think we should be a little more aggressive in trying to move forward, rather than taking a wait-and-see approach that is going into its 7th year. that's just my imo.

That is absolutely correct. People can complain about how much "harder" it is then what it once was (outstanding way to diminish the work of some pretty visionary people by the way) but the fact of the matter is this, there are few schools with the commitment to winning set as high as the University of Nebraska sets it.

There needs to some kind of tangible payoff in the way of a conference championship very soon that justifies the millions of dollars budgeted and donated. And I'm betting it needs to happen this year.

Sure it does. Anytime someone brings up TO winning 9+ games and how long it took him to win a conference title outright, the Bo-leavers tell us you can't compare Bo to TO.
You can, but it won't end well if your goal is to make Bo look good.
