That's not to say that I'm glad Polo is gone. I'm not. I like the guy, a lot. But the board is bigger than him, bigger than anyone. And the better decision for the board has to be made, every time. If I start pushing people out the door with my behavior, they'll axe me, too. And that'll suck, but that will also be the right decision.

Loath as I am to share private messages, I'll share a snippet of a conversation between me & Polo from a couple months ago. Stuff wasn't working out so well for me on the non-HuskerBoard part of life at that time, and we talked about it a bit. He ended with this:

Godspeed, kimosabe. Get well and get your house in order. You've got a friend in NorCal. And if I can help, I will.
It really sucks a$$ to have a guy like that gone from the board. But it's a decision that had to be made. And I support the Admins in making that decision, because I know how sh**ty it was to make the call.

And that's all I have to say about that.
Thanks for sharing that knapp, +1. I get the guy rubbed people the wrong way on the board (giggity). But I don't think we should be here talking about his faults with him being unable to respond. It is what it is i guess.

Maybe I missed a lot of what he said that was so offensive and unforgiveable but I think people need to have thicker skin.
If one person has a problem with you, the problem is between you and that person. If a few people have a problem with you, it's possible the problem is you.

When a large number of people have a problem with you, the problem is almost certainly you.

I've said that time and again to people. I've done my best to reason with a lot of people who are no longer on this board. For some reason, that concept just doesn't sink in.

If anyone has thick skin, it's the person that everyone has a problem with. Such thick skin that it cannot sink in that they are part of the problem - it won't penetrate their thick hide. That's not on the rest of the board, that's on them.
You're absolutely correct that if you don't learn, something might have to be done.

I just think that the level in which people get offended by a post or poster is just as toxic to the board. And maybe that goes into consideration during the decision making process. I am speaking for myself when I say I liked the 3 people in reference. They brought a ton more good to the board than bad. And I think that aspect gets overlooked when comparing between members.

agree

Polo never hesitated to personally attack EZ-E and his employment well after he was banned. Karma can be a b*tch.
But Polo was supposedly banned for doing stuff like that so why is everyone else doing the same? All I am saying is if you don't like the guy then fine. But to have people come out publicly with negativity towards the guy after he is banned is really stooping to the level that people here were complaining about with polo.

I agree with this. While I have had much angst with Polo lately after all that has went down, I have no sympathy for someone getting banned and folks still talking sh#t about them. EZ caught quite a bit hell from folks after he was gone. And i've become pretty good friends with the guy but bit my tounge on a lot of it because i understand people dont really KNOW him.

Well same with Polo. Seems Knapp, and i know for a fact skersfan, have developed a more personal relationship with him. So they have a better perspective. But like other banned members, you cant really stop some folks for "pissing on the grave".

Hell, we still make fun of wifi. LOL

But in ending, I wont have anything bad to say about Polo as a person now that he's gone. he's gone. And in a way it is dissappointing. he was a pretty prominant guy on the board, and his different and polarizing opinions are what makes discussions go round. But his seemingly arrogant attitude did rub a lot of people wrong. Even myself on occasions at times.

I don't mind differing opinions, and you can learn alot from them. But, at no point, should a single member be bigger than the rules, and every other member of the board. And I'm guessing that's why the decision was made. I'm not a fan of permabans, unless it's absolutely necessary. From what I've gathered from the admins and mods over 7 years, neither are they.

exactly. I understood and even thought EZ-E's ban was fine. He had plenty of warnings and kept crossing the line.

He never hesitated to attack a few people's form of employment or life circumstance. That, and his general better than you-pompous attitude rubbed me the wrong way, but I'd rather have the differing opinions than not.
