Story Time with Joe Ganz

Unless freeman was on a visit as a junior. Hence the "when I get here" comment
I'm sticking to my story, therefore this makes sense. Because Ganz probably hadn't thrown that TD yet, but still got upset when Freeman said that, even though he probably said it for a different reason.

Pretty interesting story... Freeman had talent, but he always seemed rattled playing against the Huskers.
It wasn't just against the Huskers. Other than Texas, most teams had Freeman's number. I never ever understood how in the heck he became a first round pick other than his stature and arm strength. He was a project at best.
As a Tampa guy, and sort of Bucs fan, I can tell you that the prevailing theory is that he was drafted for 2 reasons, both of which were similarities to the Head Coach who drafted him...

Dude was a head case while here, and definitely had issues.

Plus, I dislike Ganz a lot.

Freeman was a high school senior in 2005. Ganz was a redshirt freshman in 2005. Ganz did not throw a TD pass in 2005, he didn't even play in a game. Ganz says the TD in question was in 2006. Freeman was at KState in 2006. So Joe's story is a lie.
This is correct.

Freeman left because his dad magically got a job in Kansas the week Josh was enrolling. Of course, Josh couldn't leave his father in Kansas all by himself. Strange how that worked out for his father and him, eh?

Ganz is pretty FOS on this story.

He had talent because he could make all the throws. And talent to run the ball. He was a mess mentally which caused his downfall. Looking back, I think he would have performed better with a better program than what Ron Prince had. OU, LSU, USC for example. Then again, the mental mistakes would have surfaced there to some degree.

I remember watching Kansas St upset Texas in '06 thinking that Freeman was going to be scary good. Yet is just never materialized. True that it coulda been a severe lack of talent surrounding him.

KSU beat texas in 06 because Colt McCoy got knocked out of the game on the first drive, IIRC. KSU won in 2007 because Jordy Nelson clowned the horns.

IIRC Freeman was an early enrollee. He decommitted via text right after the dead period began in December so Callahan couldn't contact him. And then enrolled at K St a few weeks later.

Youre correct. But Kansas St won nonetheless. And that 06 game was a rather offensive spectacle. Regardless of McCoy being out, Freeman lit up that defense pretty good.
