BYU

It makes at least some sense to predict when you have a rough idea of what the team will be. Do we, right now?

They can't lose to Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota? These teams won last year.

They can't lose to Iowa? That was a very close game.

They can't lose to Northwestern? (Well, that would be surprising, I admit, but those teams are well coached, too.)

They can't lose to Miami and BYU?

If Tommy stays a 50% thrower, and the defensive front seven gets worked regularly?

I mean, they could also run the table or go 11-1. All those games are possible wins, too, of course.
I understand your point. But based on what we have done and what we know we're capable of there's just no excuse for anything less than a 9-3 regular season. I know it's a new staff and all, but it's not really about what could happen. I'm basing it on what will probably happen, or should happen.
We could go 2-10 too, but it's not gonna happen. It just aint.
Late to the party but I agree with this. Based solely on talent alone, we should win 8 games no matter what.

Hell, athletically we were (almost) step for step with USC.

The trick is having a coach that maximizes that talent...which, we only have room to improve after the previous staff..

To counter this perception, Texas has gone 5-7 and 6-7 in the last 5 years with considerably more talent than we have, as one example. Also USC had less than 70 scholarship players.

They may have had depth issues, but their two deep is loaded. Even with lesser scholarships, they still had higher ranked recruiting classes. And we held up well.

I believe USC played with closer to 55 scholarship players in that game. They started the season with 67 or so, before counting any transfers or redshirts.

They're going to be a monster when they get back up to the full 85.

You could try to break them up before the wedding. Then after the game if you feel guilty, convince them to give it another try.

1. Get her drunk as a skunk.

2. Have someone video the two of you buck nekkid. You don't even have to touch her.

3. Show the video to the groom-to-be and ask for forgiveness.

4. Wedding's off

5. Profit!

This is a must win game. A loss would be catastrophic.
It would be a real bummer. Maybe not catastrophic, for reasons others have pointed out further on in the thread.

But (here comes the sunshine and koolaid) it won't. Reilly isn't starting from scratch in terms of talent, and definitely not in terms of coaching experience.

Reilly's Husker debut will be a sound thrashing of BYU. Then the pundits will all rally around the "well, BYU is a second rate team, what did you expect" lament.
