I'm making Coach Riley a Christmas sweater to show my support. It's looking like he may have to wear it golfing at his warm weather holiday destination as coaching in a bowl game is looking less likely by the Saturday. I will continue to support him like an extra small jock strap on a sumo wrestler. I don't how much longer I can hold up to all that is pouring out.
This is funny.
I don't think you have to be in one corner or the other. There is nothing wrong with letting this season play out (good or bad) and then see where things are next season. Everyone wants a smooth transition into new coaches.
Some go bad and then get better-Saban
Some start great and then go bad-Hoke
Some stay the same-Pelini
If Riley isn't the guy, he's not the guy. On to the next. But I think he deserves 2 full seasons to show what he can do before pitchforks get brought out of storage.
Agree. The people who are letting this play out are all good with me, that's what I expect.
Now a guy like myself, I kind of appreciate a guy like Riley and his approach to things. I like his even keel mentality and I like the way he talks to people. I can respect a guy like that, and I aspire to be more and more like that.
So maybe I root for these guys a bit, maybe I give them the benefit of the doubt, but a lot of that also has to do with the way I just truly grew sick of the garbage from the last staff. All the negativity on the outside was somehow brought into the program and built into this huge feeling of hatred and resentment between fans and players. That's just sad in my opinion. One guy and his crap attitude was able to do so much damage to what I thought was one of the most unified programs in history.
Maybe it's not as bad as I think it is, but when we've got a captain on the offensive line saying and doing the things he's doing, then I can say with almost certainty that he echoes the feelings of too many of his teammates. If he didn't, then why the hell would he be an elected captain?
Either way, my issue lies with the guys who've been in waiting, sitting here anticipating failure so they could open their mouth's. Just hoping for the moment they could say how much we'd regret firing thier beloved coach Bo Pelini. That's moronic. That's a symbol of misplaced loyalty. This is the Huskers, not the Pelini's. It ain't the Riley's either. If these guys don't get it done, they'll move on too, and if it's to the benefit of the program, so be it. Pelini moving on was to the benefit of the program.
Riley deserves a chance to show whether or not he and his staff will bring this program up or down. One year, five games in, we don't know......
