The Next Husker Controversy

People are upset with Bell, but it's not like he was wrong in his sentiment.

So, it's really just that people are upset because he spoke a truth publicly?

That seems like a problematic position to take.
I think the lesson here is,

"Don't cry!

Hold it back!

Let it turn into something else!"

That is awesome! Loved that movie and the remake was terrible!

Kenny Bell wanting attention and causing drama? That's so unlike him.
He'll fight at the gates of hell to make sure his record for calf raises stands.
This is interesting. Because obviously we aren't talking about calf raises. We are talking about things like veritical jump. I would love to know what shift in equipments or procedures invalidates the records obtained, if any, during the 10 year slice of time that Epley was out.

We are taking bench. Squat.

I'd be really curious to know the supposed variations.

Sounds like pretense to me.

An all time favorite scene in an all time favorite movie.

"Boys, now I hope you see why I was so hard on you"

Yeah dad, you were prepping us for the Russian Cuban invasion of Colorado. Totally get it.

Is it even up for debate that Ameer Abdullah uses considerably more discretion in his public pronouncements than Kenny Bell?

Is anyone denying that Kenny has the most colorful and willfully controversial history of social media posts in Nebraska history?

You can admire both players and still roll your eyes at one of them.

Is it willful or is he deaf to his own failings? I've been on social media longer than Kenny's been alive and I still make mistakes.

Would you say the same about Ameer?
Heck no...you know how this goes...Bell is bad...AA is great.
There's a huge difference in how Ameer and Kenny deal with these things (and specifically, this thing). But keep pretending there isn't and it's just bias that was concocted out of thin air.
Thin air? Posters dislike Kenny because he is outspoken, he has big hair, he has tats, he had the nerve to say he was a poor college student...

It is not thin air...he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and now anytime he tweets anything people freak.

AA was on the radio this morning and all but said "They wanted to take my records down but they still want to use me for recruiting purposes...that ain't right"

But if Bell had said that same exact thing it would have been a sh#t storm.

Do you like Bell or AA more? And why?
Ha ha! Really? Are there posters who really do not like Kenny Bell? There may be some who would roll their eyes when he started spouting off—which he was know to do once in a while. But so what. He's a college kid. And an athlete. Given that, I wouldn't expect him to be all humble and contrite.

For the record, Kenny Bell was my favorite Husker when he played. The guy had all world talent, and never a spot of off-field trouble from him. Also, he has the best afro since Wonder Monds.

Are the people who respond in kind or refuse to listen to what he says because of how he says it much different?

Little of both?

Something tells me Kenny enjoys stirring the pot, then calming it down.

I'm sure he sees no failure in this one, especially since his reaction actually got Epley to change his mind.

Even people I like and admire cop to the narcissistic appeal of Twitter views.

All athletes ought to follow the advice of JJ on social media posts

"Read each tweet about 95 times before you send it. Look at every Instagram post about 95 times before you send it," Watt said. "A reputation takes years and years and years to build and it takes one press of a button to ruin it. Don't let that happen to you. You've done so much work, you've put in so much effort. Don't let one moment ruin your entire life because you wanted to be funny or you were mad or because you had a mood.

"If you use it properly you can use it unbelievably. You can interact with your fans and share with the world what you're doing. Just be smart about it."
