Agree. The 90s were fantastic and every Husker fan that lived through them experienced something special as a Husker fan.Amen! One of the few things we can agree on.Both JP and KW were out of line.
I think the JP shtick "90s this, 90s that, this is how we did it" is played out.
We get it...there was basically a fight at every practice...and you were always in full pads...it was always full contact...every single player was totally held accountable at all times no matter what...if you loafed you got your a$$ kicked...if you drank water you got an a$$ kicking...
Stop Picking on ME!!!! lolLOL!!!!!11!!!1111oneone11!!oneoneoneone!!1989 just quoted himself and yelled at himself!
I totally get what you are saying but look, on this site we have people ripping him and that is "okay" but he can't do an interview and really in the end not say anything all that bad at all?I have less issue with him deciding to leave and I think it's best for him and the Husker team that he does move on, but it's the narrative behind it that raises a brow. I know we won't ever hear the true story from either KW or the coaching staff and I'm fine by that because I take his words on 1620 worth a grain of salt.I have a hard time with this thought process. Are you saying that you have to stick with the first job you ever get because if you quit you are quitting on your "team" and only are thinking of yourself? You're wrong. They were referring to this "conversation."Wow, what a pos thing to do. KW seems like he is insecure and has anger management issues, no wonder he loved Bo so much. His next head coach and position coach can enjoy that baggage.
DB and Sharp were talking about a screenshotted conversation, between KW and another party, that got out. I thought they alluded to it being a text convo between players, but could be wrong. Anybody else hear that too or see it?
And I think someone above nailed it: you're talking about a guy who spent 5 years at NU, went through several injuries, earned a double major, was granted a 6th year of eligibility and decided to move on.
He specifically, on several occasions in the interview, said that the current staff was not worse or bad, just different.
You can question is reasoning when it comes to making the move, I have no problem with that.
But for Peter to say KW (and apparently other DL who left this year) lacks heart and balls and were faking, is at least as out of line as ANYTHING, including the drugs and bust comments, that KW said or tweeted.
It does lack balls to quit on a team on your own volition because of self interest. For the record KW was insinuating that the coaching was inadequate.
A respectable person would have left, and said nothing, and certainly would not have agreed to go on the radio.. KW was irrelevant, and he wanted to be relevant so he went Big Red bashing one last time.
We all know JPs history and his attitude, which doesn't excuse his own tweets, but KW going out of his way and comment like that is inexcusable and lacks maturity. It's one rough moment in his life and it doesn't define him, but dang does he have some work to do on himself to grow up. He mentioned wanting Husker fans to understand his decision, to support him, and doesn't want to leave on bad terms...not exactly the look to earn that respect. Defending him by saying that he has been in the program for 5, would've been 6 years, may provide reasoning for him to move on, but it doesn't excuse his own actions.
Nope. All is fair game here. The drug addiction comments were way below the belt, and not remotely comparable to the comments Peter made. Trying to shift blame for that to Peter or the dreaded "fans" boogyman is lame.
You are probably right, but KW came off as such a little girl about everything... Bo didn't let me play... Coach Hughes sucked... I am not a back up!... I should have played more in the UCLA game!... Big 10 and Nebraska won't get me to the NFL!... To quote Bo " you saw the dude he is a total p*$$y"Nope. All is fair game here. The drug addiction comments were way below the belt, and not remotely comparable to the comments Peter made. One can't really judge Bo's "secretly recorded, to be used against him at a later date" rant unless one saw what happened to him and his team two hours earlier. Sorry if this is an inconvenient truth and doesn't fit into the narrative of the "World's Greatest Fans", that Nebraska sells, but it is what it was.
As for Jason Peters, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Lecturing someone else about their character deficiencies would invite inspection of the character (or lack thereof) of the self proclaimed expert.
Did you hear what Rob Zatecha (a Husker who had REAL character) said about Kevin Williams? No? Maybe because one guy lives it and the other guy just spouts off.
Turnabout is fair play, and for the record, Jason Peters can be fairly and adequately described as a bust.
Jason Peters let a lot of people down himself, no?
Transferring to Kentucky is not illegal. immoral, or self destructive, like hookers and blow, so I could see where a guy who hasn't done anything wrong would take issue getting lectured by the likes of Peters. I know I would.
Do we know Grant Winstrom's opinion on KW? What about Tom Osbourne's?One can't really judge Bo's "secretly recorded, to be used against him at a later date" rant unless one saw what happened to him and his team two hours earlier. Even sillier is the vast number of reasons we've lost the title of "greatest fans" over the years. Whether it's getting mad online at Kenny Bell, leaving the game early, Pat Forde getting butthurt about Red Out Around The World, once when we booed after a crappy first-half performance, being unhappy that we lost seven games last year...
These signs are cited over and over and over whenever someone gets a case of the feelings and wants to pass those feelings on to Husker fans. It's kinda funny after a while.
I think you just wanted to post "Seamen"I wanna know what 4th string back-up walk-on center from the mid 90's Doug Seamen says about KW!
